Proton Pack built from wood

I’ve been working on this for a while now and this is as far as I have gotten. Please let me know what you all think because of life and working on this trying to get it done.

Using a bean can for the N Filter because is was only like .125 of an inch off of diameter.

Cut the bumper out of a 2 x 8 which was perfect. Need to mill out the sides.

I was able to create the aluminum hanger out of scrap I got from work and using a hack saw. A mill would be nice to have.

Cut the bumper center out and dowel pined them in with super glue.

Holes are not suppose to be there.

Power cell lights are installed. Need to test them out to see how they look.

That’s is beautiful! How much does it weigh?

That’s lovely wood working there, your joints and details are sweet! Impressive stuff indeed

Not too sure how much it weighs. But you will know you have a pack on that’s for sure.

Thanks for the reply’s. I’m hopefully will have it finished soon.

Always great to see someone building a pack out of wood. This looks fantastic, are you building it as a shell or will individual pieces be removable for easy access to lights?

wht did you use for wood thickness primarily

I’ve built it as individual piece’s to be able to remove and have access to everything. The cyclotron basically stacks up from MDF board.

I used 1/2 in. and 3/4 in. MDF board for the cyclotron; and I used 3/16 in. think basswood I got from hobby lobby for pretty much everything else. I assembled with screws and used 3/8 x 3/8 in. or 1/2 x 1/2 in square rods for the corners of the boxes. Some of the dimension’s are not exact but I did the best I could with what I had.

Going to try to paint this assembly. Then get started on the Thrower.

This is my Clippard R-331 valve that I built from wood and copper fittings from lowes and the cap from a dish sponge with soap handle from dollar general.

I think its a decent replica for 8 dollars or so.

Here is my build painted. Let me know what you all think so far. I used Rust-Oleum Painters touch 2x ultra cover paint + primer flat black. Only 1 coat.
