i´m marcus from germany and i´m on the way to build my own proton pack. now i have finished the wooden base and i want to make a fiberglass shell from it. whats the difference between other shells? i´m lefthanded, so the pack is mirrored. now my question to all the profi builders. how many fiberglass ,… i need for a shell. i will order it but i don´t know how much.

I figured out the other day that to do a complete shell with 3/16" thickness all around would take about 3 quarts of resin ( and that’s with a 10% waste factor). ( not sure what that would convert to in metric). So you can use that in a proportion to help you figure out how much you would need if you want a thicker shell. As for glass, if you can get pre-chopped glass go for it. Its much easier to lay that stuff in the mold and spread by hand than to have to try and maneuver glass mats into place. Not sure how much glass you would need, maybe someone else could help there.
