I apologize if this has been brought up elsewhere but I couldn’t find it in any thread. Does anyone else think that this might be a tip-off? It sort of gets pushed to the wayside once the carriage takes off, but I can’t help but think that maybe this was intentionally supposed to connect with Oscar’s would-be abduction.

I’m inclined to think it was just a simple piece of dialog to give Dana an excuse to be focused on something other than Oscar’s carriage for a minute. Not to say there couldn’t be more to it, given her history with haunted appliances.
Maybe I’m not remembering the scene correctly but isn’t it cold because Oscar’s bedroom window is open? It is December in New York after all.
No. I’m referring to right in the beginning of the movie as Dana is trying to get the superintendent to help her with the door.
I think it’s a tip off to the fact that everyone in New York is a jerk.
The radiator wasn’t working because Frank is an ex-convict who spends all his time drinking to cope with the fact that his family has disowned him and won’t be inviting him to a Christmas family get together and therefore he wants everyone, including Oscar, to feel the cold he feels. Or maybe he’s a bad super?
