ok i know I just had to do a more main stream prop.. so i picked a hard one …lol

My build is planed to be the standard fair … unless i figure a fun way to animate it a bit more than a flashing light …

So you first need to get on of these bad boys


Then you need to get a butter knife and spend 45minets to unwrap it…

.

here comes the fun part …Channel you inner Chuck Norris and grab the big round end and snap it off …


now grab a cold drink and wait for the mail man to bring the other parts…

ok more KUD goodness arrived today

So here is the next steps…

get the skimmer and masher … and you favorite tools of destruction out and get to it..

First the skimmer’s shank is pressed into the handle part. Pop it out of the handle…


Next grab the masher and mash the handle with a hammer an you can pop that apart to…


Now you got the best parts free on the junk…

ok Svengoolie not so good tonight …

So back to it …

these two mods are just my idea to make things a bit ezer to work with ..

I dremeled a cut down the center of the masher to make the arch lay flat when I put it in the vice to flatten and bend. as well I cut it down to make it closer to the correct visible length


the skimmer I just dremeled the plastic end down to fit into the tube on the detector. this will make things faster and ez when it comes time to epoxy it in ..

Ok well I’m under such presser from Mr Newborn to finish the KUD .LOL…

I’m done as faw as the cosmetics of it

Here is the ugly underside of the masher/ I used a screw and nut to attach it and drilled the hole for the LED and its wires.

I’m very unhappy about the way this whole part looks ..


next up is the skimmer … I used Quick Steel epoxy for this step.

Quick Steel is a 2part putty mash it up and it and it starts to heat and cure..once set up it can be drilled and even tapped

How’d you do that?

Although, I used a different toggle on mine, so maybe that’s why I needed so much extra room.

well not really … i was going to use the same switch as you … but i wanted a switch that is used on the packs to keep the look..

the one i used just has a much smaller body … and it does hit the board a bit. but not enough to have to cut the board or effect the way the board works …on top of that my switch is just a dummy as im using the off on knob for all the animation

Funny it works backward …

Why does it work backwards like that?

And how high was the volume there? Can it be muted?

Did you stap of the dector part? or cut it off?

Mr Newborn… it gets way louder ..and the gauge sweeps backwards because i have the battery’s in backwards … lol…

Im joking…

i reversed the field going threw the gauge…and so other stuff … like now when you set it on metal it does not beep and when not near metal it beeps … so it works backwards of how it should.. that way its doing some thing when you wave it around as you walk …

Mr Blahface… I cut it off..Hacksaw so its not the cleanest cut ..
