Of corse i hope your with me on this one,but i hope the classic song will still be a big part of the film.It would be ok to have an alternate version of the song at some point in the film like they did in GB II with Run D.M.C…just not to far over the top with an alternate version,if there is one ![]()
If they’re smart they’ll either use the original (which never really went out of style to be replaced) or an updated version with Parker, Jr doing it with whoever is current enough of a star to collaborate with.
As long as Lady Gaga is nowhere near the franchise, I’m good.
Well said, and Lady Gaga OMG yuk!! :sigh:
What the Lady Gaga version may sound like.
“FACE PALM” :sigh: I hope it never goes there
Amen to that.
Ray Parker Jr version all the way in the film. I don’t mind if a updated version ends up in the end credits though (ala GBII).
The original needs to be there. Maybe a remastered version using modern equipment or perhaps a re-recording with Parker.
I understand that things need to change with the times, but to me the theme song is something that shouldn’t be tampered with. It’s iconic. For the same reason, the logo shouldn’t change, either.
The remake of “The Touch” that Stan Bush did for the release of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen is an example I’d cite against rewriting the song with new technology, with Parker Jr’s involvement. I’d much rather have the classic, as it hasn’t really aged that much, certainly not enough to warrant a remake.
Yeah, let me just add a disclaimer saying it would have to be done right, or not at all. It would have to be quite the inspired effort to be worthwhile.
I prefer the original over all else. Tho’ a nice remixed song by Ray himself would be fine. Maybe the classic tune combined with modern beats and with some extra lyrics?
Maybe they could get Huey Lewis to unwittingly write another theme song.
keep ray parker jr that the only theme i want in a ghostbusters movie

This.
Seriously, the remake of “The Touch” was horrendous.
The Touch - Original
The Touch - Remake
I agree the original theme should be in there, but it’s 2010 and they’re going to have to make some updates. The soundtrack to Ghostbusters is a night and day difference to Ghostbusters II, and while I like them both, it does show the amount of time that passed in between the two films musically.
The Lady Gaga hate is quite funny though, I was a fan of hers before she got plastered all over the world. She’s a relevant artist, I don’t think you guys give her enough credit on a creative level, but whatever. Like what you like lol. My point is, she’s what’s hot right now in music.
While I don’t think she’ll be on the soundtrack, who ever is charge of it would be stupid to think she can’t contribute in any way possible to the project. Red_One produces the majority of her stuff and while I’m not a fan of her Beyonce collaborations – which mostly were tracks NOT produced by Red, I’m sure the guy can do something GB friendly and still make it modern. Not saying he should do the theme w/ Gaga, but you get the jist of what I’m saying lol.
It’s all about record sales these days and with a major-ass release like GB3, I’m pretty sure they’ll nab big name artists. It seems like anything not rock gets shat on on these boards. Even most of my friends who ■■■■■■■ hate pop music love Gaga. It’s like bizarro world in these forums sometimes lol.
In a perfect world I’d hope the movie soundtrack has a good mix of rock, pop, and hip-hop so everyone can be pleased. Last thing I want to read on here his how the 3rd soundtrack ruined the franchise lol.
I think they should keep the original theme for the opening and the end credits. Truogh the movie i’d like something…dark and very powerfull ![]()
