I’m 100% certain that the 2016 movie will feature Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters as the main theme song.
Like the recogniseable no ghost logo, it is a recogniseable asset that instantly gets everyones attention during the trailer. Probably everyone on this planet has heard that catchy song at one point in their life.
Being the no expenses spared tentpole that GB16 is, Sony can pay Ray Parker whatever he wants for it.
(Like everything else, this will be a straight steal/paste by Feig aswell. We’ll be lucky if the song is updated/remixed slightly)
As it stands, whilst I did like the sound of the version featured in the movie trailer, there’s no guarantee it’ll be in the film. To mind, Angels & Demons and Spectre come to mind of being films with cool renditions of past music (in the case of the latter, an updated version of the On Her Majesty’s Secret Service chase music), and despite being featured prominently in the trailers, didn’t appear at all in the film.
I’ve no doubt we’ll hear a version of the Ghostbusters theme, but we’ll have to see if it’s the trailer version or not.
I’m always a sucker for techno and house mixes of my favorite songs. So, I admit, the remix used in the 2016 trailer tickled me a bit. Maybe we’ll get a full version of it soon?
But for the time being, there’s the ghost grinder remix
I don’t know if it’s the it is phased in and out of the trailer, but I like the remix less on its own. In the trailer, I really liked it. But some of the synth instruments and their levels in the mix seem more abrasive now. shrug
ive heard this remix. I do hope that the full version of the Trailer score is on the new sound track. This remix that a fan made sounds great except there are areas that are completely off. bugs me. Other than those areas its a nice fan made version.
I’ve listened to a lot of remixes/remakes of the GB theme since the movie came out and I must say not one matches up to the original. Except for the extended version. I once heard a radio edit in the early 90s where they mixed quotes from the film in with the theme and it was pretty cool.
Apparently, the new theme is a cover of the original, featuring Fall Out Boy and Missy Elliot. Can someone please post one of those palm-to-the-face emojis?
