Or would it look too “short”?
A regular Cadillac is around 17-to 19 feet long while a hearse is 21.
I saw an average oldsmobile turned into a hearse a few months ago and for me it looked too small.
Just wondering…

I would have to say no.
Actually if u had a 1959 4 door, You could chop the roof. It would be a major Project But it would be possible
Yeah, actually Im about to buy a 59 4 door caddy, so I was wondering since I don’t want it to look like a mini-Ecto
THAT is a waste of a classic car.
Agreed, 100% waste of a quality car.
Not really. It’s almost junked. I can do anything at this stage
Ok.
Let me rephrase that.
100% waste of a classic car.
To many classics/cars get turned into shitty ectos ( IE a ecto sedan) and no one wants them after that.
I’d personally like to see a classic restored to its original look.
Just cause you can make an Ecto doesn’t mean you should.
quoted, capitalized, bolded, underlined and sized for emphasis.
You shouldn’t use a 4-door anyway…the front doors are too short. If you were smart, you’d take the front part of a coupe and weld it to the rear of a 4-door. But if you did that, I would ban you from ever posting in this section.
On a '59 there’s a foot (or more) difference between the commercial frame and the sedan. You’re looking at a SHITLOAD of work for something that’ll probably look rediculous…when you could’ve had a nice resto project.
PLEASE…don’t waste that car…even if its a basket case, it deserves better.
I agree with everybody who posted about not turning it into a hearse.. Keep it stock.
I don’t think your end will justify the means. I’m not of the school of thought that you would be wasting a classic car. The reason I’m not is because if you didn’t have it, it would probably be rusting in a field somewhere anyway (depending on how far gone it is already). However, you’re looking at what is probably way to much labor just to have an ecto. I would suggest you BOLO for a hearse to convert; one will come along eventually.
Wise words.
redo the car as in in white. then make a Fiberglass cap to drop on it to make it look like a hearse with the roof rack. Windows could be painted on showing slimer and stay puff taking a ride in the back.
Use macaroni for the headlights and sidewalk chalk to make your tires into whitewalls. Also a pizza box for the steering wheel.
Just fill in the gaps with pepakura and Elmer’s glue - ProtonCharger will be glad to help you out with that.
Look if the guy wants to keep it a Cadillac he will
But If he chooses to make the car into an ecto, It be a first and a major project but it would be pretty cool to see come together. I hate to be a poor sport but i don’t agree with you guys. I Say it would be hard but you could do it if you had the time and money.
id be more happy to kill it with fire.
