not by all that much, mind you…but for some reason I find sitting thru this migraine a tad bit easier than sitting thru the last season…and the second half of the 5th season.
I think the stories are slightly better, and the animation is better too. I mean–granted–the animation isn’t beautiful like Seasons 1-4 of the show, but it’s meant to reflect the silly nature of the Slimer! cartoons.
Don’ get me wrong though, I still think the cartoons are an atrocity against nature.
Every hour of Slimer! cartoons that I watch…I have to watch one classic RGB episode; it’s that hard to sit thru. To be fair I had to do the same in regards to the last season of RGB/second half of the 5th…
You’re maybe right in that the Slimer! cartoons achieve their goal more successfully than the S6 RGB episodes achieve their goal - the former to provide mindless entertainment for 5 year olds, the latter to be a semi-serious show about battling the supernatural.
But me, I wouldn’t exchange “Janine, You’ve Changed” for all the Slimer eps in the world.
the episode you just mentioned was absolutely fantastic, and had amazingly good music and animation? Why would anyone exchange that episode for all the Slimer! episodes?
I HATE DWEEB!!! that is the main reason for disliking s6 and the Slimer! episodes. Even as a small child watching the episodes i hated dweeb. I want more focus on the guys rather than slimer and his so called “problems” for Christ sake, he is dead! can’t do much more to a dead guy!
My grandparents used to tape RGB off TV on saturday mornings for me. Even as a kid I would fast forward through the slimer cartoons. I’m slowly watching them on my TimeLife set, but I still haven’t gotten all the way through them. It’s just not GB to me. However, in the episode where Slimer is in the department store looking for a birthday present for Chilly, is asked if he needs help, and responds “No Tanks…Just Looking.” has stuck with me and I think is the only quote I use from the Slimer cartoons. For some reason I’ve just always thought it was funny HOW he said it.
For some reason Dweeb specifically I don’t entirely mind.
I don’t like any of the situations they put him or Slimer in, or really anything overall about the Slimer! cartoons.
To be honest…I don’t know why I like him; he proved in Deja Boo to be incompetent beyond any possible reasoning…and yet I still like him a thousand times more than the Junior Ghostbusters; I don’t get it…
that would make sense; the last place I heard that mentioned was in a JMS interview; I just figured someone was using it in fanfic now; to be fair, I still stand by it:
I will completely accept the Extreme Ghostbusters into canon, so long as they will aim their blasters at the Jr. Ghostbusters, and fire at will.
Just for full disclosure, the last names actually came from one of Kingpin’s stories. He tried to rewrite “The Boogeyman Is Back” to make them less annoying, and I used the same last names he did as a bit of a tribute to his story, and so I didn’t have to think of anything.
The jgb’s didn’t bother me when i was a kid. i wanted to be one of them as a kid, get to play with old equipment and hang out with the real gb’s. They were cool in Halloween 2 1/2 with samhain.
That used to be one of my favorite episodes; I now think the episode has more holes in the plot than in a piece of swiss cheese, and the Jr. Ghostbusters are just as annoying; unfortunate too, cause I love Samhaine.
