I’d like to see this: the new GBs are scouting the old HQ wih Egon and Ray and Slimer appears. Ray and Egon tell them that Slimer is not dangerous. Then we see him in the montage, maybe he’s volunteering to train the new busters with the use of their proton packs.
I’d love to see an entire subplot of the movie (i.e. at least 65% of the running time) where Slimer is still a bus driver, going around and picking folks up, tipping his hat, collecting tokens, flashing his winning smile, making right-hand turns, pulling into the bus depot and getting a sandwich, making left-hand turns, helping people get their bikes on the front guardrail, etc. Several reasons why:
Reason one: DUDE WHAT IT’S SLIMER DRIVING A BUS WHAT?
Reason two: SERIOUSLY YOU GUYS DID YOU SEE THAT BUS DRIVER? I THINK THAT WAS SLIMER?
Reason three: NO, REWIND IT DID YOU SEE THAT? I’M NOT KIDDING.
Reason four: GUYS SERIOUSLY IF THIS ISN’T LIKE AT LEAST 65% OF THIS MOVIE IT’S GONNA SUCK.
There are other reasons as well, but these are the ones that stand out to me the most right now. I think maybe we ought to consider an online petition? (When I say “maybe” I mean OBVIOUSLY).
Or yes, this - this is also a good idea. Slimer with a proton pack, in a montage. Preferably while driving a bus.

This could be a subplot about ghosts being rehabilitiated and released to do menial labor. The library ghost gets to keep on doin’ library stuff, taxi ghost gets to drive a taxi, Vigo works at a butcher shop… BILL MURPHY WILL LOVE IT!

Agreed, he doesn’t serve that function…For me it just wouldn’t be the same without him in some capacity…Cameo would be fine in my book…
And while the game used Gozer/Stay Puft to good effect, it was utimately Ivo and his experiments with the supernatural, that tied everything neatly together…That was clever and refreshing…
However the rest of the Gozer story-arcs usually deal with extended “kin” and such…Personally I find that boring…I like it better when the storylines introduce new threats for them to tackle, instead of finding new ways to shorehorn the old foe into the frey ad nauseam…

I thought the whole premise of Ghostbusters was that it had believable elements? Like the physics etc.
I think the ghosts should be much more like the Alien in the first few aliens films, i.e. you never get a good look at them at first.
There has to be an element of terror for the gags to be really funny.
If you make him a bus driver there is no difference between this film and the real ghostbusters which is a cartoon.

Sorry, I fail to see your point. I was daydreaming about a scene where Slimer is all like “ALL ABOARD!” and people are like “What? That’s a ghost bus driver? I can’t get on this bus!” and Slimer is all like “NO GUYS I WON’T SLIME YOU THIS TIME I MEAN IT” and the passenger people are all “But last time you did” and Slimer is like “NO NOT THIS TIME REALLY” and the people are all “Well, I GUESS so…” and Slimer is all like “ALL ABOARD” and people get on and then the next scene they’re all like getting off the bus and GUESS WHAT THEY’RE ALL COVERED IN SLIME and they’re like “Aw man, we should have known it” and Slimer has like this sheepish grin on his face and he’s all SHRUG and then it’s off to the next stop!
ALL ABOARD
The next day Slimer gets called down to the office. His boss is ■■■■■■.
He says “Do you know how many complaints we had about people getting slimed yesterday? Do you realize what the dry-cleaning bill is gonna be like?”
Slimer says something unintelligible.
The Boss - “MY MOTHER WAS A SAINT! YOU’RE FIRED!”
Then the rest of the movie can be about Slimer discovering what really makes a good Public Transport Driver; with scenes of Rocky/Karate Kid like training from the Taxi Driver Ghost.
Meanwhile, the Ghostbusters kill some demons-n-shit and blow up a couple neighborhoods.
I like that idea, minus the Ghostbusters nonsense at the bottom - do we really need all of that? Let’s not complicate things.
I also heard Eddie Murphy is voicing Slimer!!!
