Do you think Slimer should make an appearance in GB3 as a pet/mascot to the Ghostbusters like he did in TRG? He seemed to have been the “pet” in GB2.
No.
Yes! They will call it “Slimer and The Ghostbusters 3.”
The Real Ghostbusters didn’t get any good until Slimer took top billing and they brought Dave Coulier to fix show with his spot-on impression of Bill Murphy.
I take it you two are not Slimer fans?
No.

Slimer’s a very recognizable part of the franchise. Some sort of brief, quick nod and move on.
Maybe have one shot of him in a fish tank, like in the Video Game. He and Venkman trade rude gestures, and Slimer’s never seen again for the rest of the movie.
maybe the newbies try to bust him and Ray stop them.

If there was a legit reason for him to be there, maybe. That’s a big maybe. RBG was separate from the films as for GB2, you couldn’t really call him a mascot or pet because he only has one scene at the fire house and one when he’s driving the bus and that scene didn’t make any sense because it didn’t fit the kind of character that was established in the first movie. The only way it makes any sense to me why Slimer would be in GB3 is if he’s in a containment system similar to the game and studied by Egon.

Slimer doesn’t bother me…Over use of the character can be grating, but not the character itself…
What DOES bother me franchise-wise is the overuse of Gozer as a plot device in just about ALL of the continuations and spin-offs (aside from “Sanctum Of Slime”, “The Return” novel, and some of the comics)…I honestly think they’ve said all they can really say about the Goz/Stay Puft…
Don’t get me wrong - I like some of the references just fine, but constantly going back to that well - even as a starting point - is unnerving…The first movie was just that - The first movie…There is no need for the constant rehashing IMO…
I feel the other way around. Gozer is a bigger plot device, and a continued bigger foil that connects everything they usually encounter. Slimer does none of that.
Kinda like how Dr. Claw was the nemesis to Inspector Gadget.
Kinda like how Mumm-Ra was the nemesis to The ThunderCats.
Kinda like Skeletor to He-Man, and so forth.
Every group of heroes needs a nemesis and Gozer fits that category nicely.
It depends how they use special effects.
If they make him more realistic, i.e. you hardy ever get a good look at it they should.
In GB3 they should make the ghosts realistic and semi scary, not simple cartoon characters but that’s my opinion.
Atleast there should be a variety.
I remember watching Hellraiser which was a genuinely scary movie (back then) and kept imagining how it would have been had Ghostbusters been involved in the scariest scenes.
Think about it, something is way funnier if you are terrified.
I think that slimer should make a short appearance. Perhaps as part of a montage.
