how do you go about getting the right sizes when shopping on a site like armynavydeals?
I don’t know about armynavy deals but I would think the sizing would be the same wherever you get it. I’ve gotten all of my flightsuits from flightsuits.com and they seem to be the most recommended around here. When I made my first uniform I went with a size Large and it fit me almost perfectly. For my second and third uniforms I goofed and ordered an Extra-large. The Extra large was workable, I did wear it for Halloween of that year but it was too baggy and it was certainly too long. I am a pretty average build, about 5’9" tall with a 36" waist…so, I don’t know. It is always a slight gamble when you order clothing items online. I guess the best advice is order it early so you have time to send it back and get a replacement if its the wrong size (also double-check their return policy).
Oh, and here is the valuable lesson I learned the hard way: Always try it on before you dye it and sew on the patches.
Rothco suits (which, from what I’ve seen, are a fairly common brand) tend to run pretty large compared to the other poly/cotton suits.
I’m the same size as JediGrandMaster, just 2 inches shorter, and I’m typically a 40S, but a Large from Rothco hangs off me like a parachute.
The suit I have is a crotch biter.
Unfortunately they do not come in differering lengths. Here is the size chart for the chest:
Small: 33 - 37"
Medium: 37 - 40"
Large: 40 - 43"
XL: 43 - 46"
2XL: 46 - 49"
3XL: 49 - 52"
Actually it looks like “Tru-Spec” manufacturers flight suits in differering lengths.
Prices look to be about ~$40-50.

be careful! you’d better check the product number and picture. I hear all military sites are the same one. 
I’m a tall guy(well 6’1 or 6’2) and mine isn’t really small but as far as being a little baggy like the movie suits, I probably could have gone one more size up to XL. It’s not terrible though.
This is more what I was looking for. I’d be a small to a medium, I think. I have a 36-39 in chest from what I remember.
I know I had a medium and had to go up to a large because it wasn’t long enough.
So hopefully a Long Medium will work out.
I still dont understand IM a Shirt size medium and a 34 waist and im like a 5’8 or 5’9 so a large could be cool for me?
I’m exactly your size minus an inch in height. A 40R in the Nomex suits fits me absolutely perfectly, while a Large in the poly/cotton suits seems a little too big for me. I’ve never tried a Medium in the poly/cotton, but I suspect it would be a good fit.
No idea on the Tru-Spec suits, however.
At least we don’t have to worry about the length. I suppose flight suit fitting is one advantage to being short.
My medium Tru-Spec is pretty nice.
I would not order from GunAccessories.com (or whatever it was.. ) it took 2 weeks, and I found it cheaper somewhere else afterwards. I’ve only tried on my Medium Tall suit once.. and it was a little crotch tight.. but I also was wearing pants inside of them.
I think if you are abnormally tall for your waist size / chest size.. to go with a Tall.
I’ve had Medium and Large in regular lengths.. and the large has always been HUGE on me.. while being a bit uncomfortable.. and the Medium.. fit in the waist chest region.. but was a total crotch biter.
I’m glad they are finally selling tall sized suits.
I won a large nomex on ebay for 35.50 + shiiping that makes it like almost $50 and im still wondering if it could fit me.

I got a nomex from eBay.
they are rated by chest size / lenght.
I was thinking of a 42L; that would be considered a Large. I always wear Large being 6’ 200lb.
However, the nomex I got for fairly cheap was a 44R with is XL. Ended up being great for me.
All to say, it definately is sized by chest size, and better have one size bigger then one size smaller. (anyway, baggy is good)

You wanna look at all the factors, chest, waist, arm and leg length and find one that kinda hits the happy medium for them all…then go one size larger.
For two reasons, most of the time you are at least gonna wear a tshirt under it and if you want to authentic look some khakis maybe like Ray in which case you want room for the other clothes. Also their suits were not form fitting, nor are real flight suits used in service, they need to be roomy to move. Plus if you buy the size that seems like fit like most of your street clothes you hit issues like short crotch or odd feelings around your shoulders.
I wear a medium shirt and right at the edge of the medium and large flight suits waist (34-36). So I bought the large and it fits wonderfully.
I was lucky enough that I could try on my jumpsuit before I bought it. In fact I tried on several jumpsuit before I found one that fit over my other clothing and felt comfortable while looking good at the same time. It was pretty cool.
In the poly/cotton suits I’m a Small. Screwed up massively and used those measurements as a guide for my Nomex suit purchase. Darn thing is way too small (could anyone use a Nomex suit in 34S?). I’m 5’ 10", 28 inch waist, no clue what my inseam measurement is other than whatever measurement I used for the Nomex suit was obviously wrong :walterpeck:
