What is the Ghostbusters logo doing on the Sony print ad for upcoming movies??? Hmmmmmm…
It could be as innocuous as simply promoting one of the already-existing films. Remember that at one of the past Sony trade fairs a lot of people made a big deal about the Ghostbusters logo showing up, only for it to be for the Bluray release of Ghostbusters, now a new Ghostbusters movie.
I wouldn’t read anything into this until we see something more concrete, especially so soon after Dan Aykroyd finally admitting that Bill Murray isn’t likely going to be a part of another movie.
Also, are they remaking The Smurfs???

I think that they knew about Murray’s decision for quite some time now…and only these days a reporter made the RIGHT question to Dan forcing him to finally reveal it.
Back in August the script was “excellent, with a comic role of a lifetime for Bill…Murray can walk in the door at anytime”
Then the usual “we’re ready to film” answer became: “We hope to have Mr. Murray but we have to remember that GB is greater than any one of us”
Then, from October they were “working on the script, adding a great part…a lady trainee”
Why work on a script if that is excellent? Because Bill already said no.
You are totally right… but if the last logo popping up gave us a Bluray version of the film… I wonder what it means this time? GB3? Probably not… (I am still wrestling in my brain with whether or not I even want it to be made…) but maybe a new cartoon? GBII finally on Bluray? A true follow up to the video game? It is just fun to speculate about possibilities I guess…
A guy named Justin Johnson claims that he’s in talks to be part of Gb3 as Winston’s son…and he’s WHITE.
That is obviously not real.
If anything, I should be his son. Can’t you see the resemblance? (I need to work on my mustache).
That’s ridiculous… The Ghostbusters can’t have children… The proton stream isn’t firing off, the slime isn’t positively charged, the containment unit isn’t holding any ghosts, Ecto-1 is out of commission… Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Well, I doubt it’s GB2 on blu-ray, because I’m sure they would have used the proper logo for that, but yeah, I’m sure it being on there means something, regardless of what it is. Could just mean that Sony is committed to the film, one way or another. Sure, there’s the Murray obstacle, but when have obstacles stopped company bigwigs from trying to make a profit.
Edit: of course, I always forget about the idea of a 3D re-release of the first film. It is quite the fad atm after all.

About to officially confirm GB1 being redone in 3-d does sound like a plausible explanation for the logo popping up with no new movie all that close (if it ever happens at all).
Hmmm… a 3D re-release?.. that does sound plausible… although that would be a BIG let down for me… I am not hip to this 3D fad we are in at all… I have only seen 3 3D movies in the theater but all three just had me wanting to take off the glasses and just watch the movie. It just seems like a gimmick more than anything… But I guess as long as money can be made through the 3D filming and conversions then it will stick around…
anyhoo… if the logo popping up is just for a re-release in 3D I would not be all excited about it… do you agree???
but heck, who am I kidding… I would still be there opening day and wanting to buy a 3D tv when it comes out on Bluray so I can watch it at home! 
I’m going to have to agree with jzurawski, if it’s just the movie converted into 3D it’d be some what of a let down. At least to me anyways. This whole “3D” never really took ahold of me and made me enjoy the films I saw anymore then it would have normally. Sure I understand the glasses for the home TVs/Computer screens are far more comfy then the ones at the theaters, but still after a half hour or so i’d remove them to give my eyes a break. On top of that the cost of these units can be very expensive to go out and buy for a few movies you liked in the 3D format. Don’t know about you guys and gals but I don’t exactly have the spare change to pick one of these up at random. I can theologically understand that Sony will make bucks with this idea but then again with it being so expensive to own these items I can see them losing money aswell (thoughts?). Also didn’t the blue-ray come out a few years ago? What would be the point in releasing two of the same movies in different formats in such short years of one another? But getting back on point, I really do hope it’s more then a 3D release of the movie. Just my two cents on the topic 
the guy who received the casting call pointed out that “re-release” refer to the casting call itself (it was already submitted some tme ago and now they are calling again) and not for the movie.
Also, they don’t specify that it’s for a GB movie…it could be a joke nod in another movie, or a parody, or a commercial (like the Citroen one from few years ago)
That is true… that could be the answer to that very strange casting call… but that still would not explain why the GB logo showed up on a print ad with upcoming movies…
A 3D release of the film would fit the bill for both the casting call and logo… so I guess that is what I will believe for now.
Anybody else have any clues or ideas??

ha ha ha… that would be hilarious! I can see it now…
The guys are all sitting around at the firehouse and Winston says… “Do you remember the first call I ever went on?”
And then the screen goes all wiggly and fuzzy… with a harp playing in the background… 
or better yet…the new team asks what were the old Gbs doing in the past years..and Ray start telling from 1989 onward and in the meantime we see scenes from their past years until they closed.
That could be fun to see!
but… you think they could actually find people that look that much like the guys to make it believable? I guess if the scenes were kind of short and you only kinda saw their faces…
I still don’t really think that the casting call is for the 3rd movie though… but it is fun to wonder!
