Strap flashlight

alright, decided to go semi-game pack this year and bought the L flashlight from the shop here.

my question:

How do you attach this thing to it?!

just put a safety pin on your sholder strap and put the hook on the flashlight thru it

Or you could try a zip tie.

THe straps should have several places (nylon loops) to put something to clip the flashlight to…unless for some odd reason your L light doesn’t have a clip. That would be a pain in the arse. Then I’d go with the Tiewraps all the way.

G

Thanks guys. I think I’ll go with the tie strap idea. I have no loops on these straps :frowning:

dont worry zeta, i think GAVAL is confused. The are no alice pack shoulder pads that come with the small loops/straps to hand a flashlight on. There are other types of OD military straps which do have loops and are similar to alice pack shoulder pads, but they are not the proper alice pack shoulder pads.

the most game-accurate method seems to be sewing on a small piece of nylon or canvas OD material, similar to whats found on military Alice Y-suspenders.

Well, I’m perfectly happy with my improper shoulder straps that DO have loops to clip a flashlight.

If you’re not feeling elitist, zeta, there’s options out there that wouldn’t require any modification.

G

It’s not elitist - it’s accurate.

The correct ALICE pack straps don’t have loops. If yours do, they aren’t the correct ones. He’s not saying you can’t wear them…

you know, I’m getting sick and tired of people saying im a damn elitist when I take the time to type a helpful and positive response, involving either accuracy or something that you dont own. I’ll bet if you had the accurate alice straps, you wouldnt be callling me elitist.

I’ll bet if Austin, DanAKA, AJ Quick, Ron Daniels or any of those guys were to post exactly what I posted, you wouldnt call them Elitist either.

I understand that my actions in the past may have led you to immediately view in a negative light, any post I make.

well stop, ok? I am trying to better myself for the sake of the community and for my own self-esteem.

ok, now this is probably gonna ■■■■ you off more, but its necessary in order to provide the right information to members.

That is simply not true. There are no military straps that have the loops for accessories, that will not require modification to use on an alice pack frame. If you buy the Y-suspenders, you will have to cut them and add straps to attach them to the frame. The same goes for other types of straps that were not designed for alice fames.

In short, theres only one set of straps what will not require modification: real alice pack shoulder straps

If you can prove me wrong, I’ll eat my hat

Vincent was not being an elitist in any way here, if he was I totally would have called him out on it and sent him to his hash hish smelling room.

Dont get up in arms because he provided you some information that for some reason you don’t like. I’m so baffled why someone would get hurt by what Vinny very simply stated that I’m at a loss for words, which is a rare attraction.

Enjoy it Gaval, but seriously, try to lose the cob, if you get my meaning.

It’s all about the tone. Some folks just don’t get how patronizing they can come across via the limitations of text.

Kudos for trying, though. As long as you care to be helpful and don’t intend to sound pushy about how a person should go about their hobby, then the harm is limited.

Just be aware that good intentions don’t always yield harmless results. Lot of folks new to these forums are getting heavily tread upon when they just want a helping hand from someone with experience, and as a victim on my first request for help, I’ll always be quick to try and make folks feel welcome and point them in the right direction rather than smear them for not looking a little harder before asking for help.

Not that kind2311 did any smearing, but when you start implying things with words like “inaccurate” and “improper” you aren’t exactly helping the hospitality issues these forums are dealing with…in my humble opinion anyway. You’re just forcing your concept of what a replica prop should be onto someone who may have differant ideas.

And I think we’ve all seen how bad the smearing has been in the past. You can blame those folks for the growing sensitivity around her towards others insensitivity.

G

Ah, so we should all be more sensitive. I suppose the way we’ve been doing it is “improper.”

Seriously, take a chill pill, take a step back and consider your argument and how you’ve presented it. Then take a gander at the forums, no one has really been that bad. You’ve seemed to have had a bad experience that has fabricated a pair of goggles that you see everything through now.

And perhaps reading the posts here in silly or funny tones aloud to yourself would help you with that thorn in your paw, eh?

Seriously, man, I haven’t really taken any names at all and related them to elitism on an individual basis. All those names you quoted me are barely names I reckognize in passing. I usually read the messages as one big passage and barely equate them to individuals.

My response to your post was purely on the post itself, driven by bashings I’ve seen in the past (and I didn’t even bother to see who was doing the bashing because those attitudes were hardly worth a second read.).

So if Gozer himself had made those comments in the destructor form of Kate Beckensale with new improved DDD sweater meat under her Underworld pleather, I still would have called him out on it.

Tact. It’s what’s for dinner.

G

My ALICE frame came with the backpack too so what i did was to take a portion of the backpack straps and using a thick needle, stitch a loop around it, it looks the part because its the same colour as the straps and is strong too, flashlight isn’t going anywhere

so you read insults, and didn’t pay attention to who posted them and then pinned them on Vinny?

I’ve never taken what vinny has EVER said to be “Elitist” huh…

back on topic. You Could use some osrt of elastic band.
