I’d like to conduct this like a survey. From what I can tell, it seems most are against them working on/in the movie even though rumors continue to fly of Judd Apatow possibly being involved and Seth Rogen donning a proton pack. So I ask, what are your feelings on it? Yay or Nay on the Apatow Group in Ghostbusters III?
Personally Im against it. I enjoyed the 40 Year Old Virgin but nothing else since. Rogen is good in small doses like his role in that flick. I despise Jonah Hill and thank God Michael Cera has said he has no interest in being apart of the movie. Not sure if Paul Rudd would be considered apart of that group but I would actually love to see him as a Ghostbusters. I think he could pull off a character that could be a cross between Peter Venkman from GB 1 & 2 and the Peter Venkman from the Real Ghostbusters, and is just young enough to be considered “new generation” but too old to be lumped in with newer stars like Twilights Robert Pattinson or Zach Efron. shudders
I think you’d be hardpressed to find someone in the yay group on this board. Although I’ll agree with you that Rudd is the only person from the group I wouldn’t mind seeing in it. I guess Seth Rogen’s movies haven’t been doing so well lately so hopefully he’ll fall off peoples’ radars when casting time comes around.
I am a partial yay. I would not mind seeing Paul Rudd and Jason Segel as Ghostbusters, even Martian Starr would be interesting. I’m not seeing a place for Hill or Cera, even though I enjoy them. Rogan said he wasn’t interested and I don’t think I’d want to see him in it even if he were.
You’re not hardpressed to find a yay from me. People often forget that actors act the way they’re directed. People hear “Apatow” and “Ghostbusters”, and immediately images of stoners, weiners, and dick jokes pop into their mind. Keep in mind they didn’t write the script, and the director has the ability to keep them in line if he or she thinks the actor is going too far.
That being said, I find most of Apatow’s crew, atleast Rudd, Segel, and Rogen, to be very entertaining and very good actors. Alot of people may disagree, but that’s my opinion. Paul Rudd would look great donning a uniform and pack; I can hear him now: “How did these geriatric bastards tote this ■■■■ on their backs for 25 years?!” Jason Segel would also be a great addition, and with his height it could make it a bit of a running gag in the movie. Seth, while I like his work, could go either way for me. He could play it serious, which would make it funny; or he could play it wild and out there, which I’m nervous how it’d turn out.
I like Jonah Hill’s personality as a person, cool guy. His acting skills bother me, though. I don’t want to see Jason Scwartzman in this – I just don’t like him at all, acting or vibe. I’d honestly LOVE to see Christopher Walken do some form of cameo in this movie.
So…is this going to turn in to another casting thread? lol. I personally would love if Paul Rudd made his way in to the movie some way or another, preferably as a buster. Just saying though, with the office guys writting, Ramis’s ties to them AND the Apatow group, not to mention apatow slowly pulling more and more of the office group in to their crew, I’d say seeing someone is damn near inevitable.
I’ll have to say, Yay. They are pretty funny guys, plus I don’t know about the rest of you, but I’m just happy to see a GB 3 coming out. As a fellow TAPS investigator, I think it would be funny if Jason and Grant did some sort of cameo in the film. Ghost Hunters has caused a HUGE interest in paranormal investigating so that can only help the GB franchise.
I will admit, “Funny People” was the only movie I’ve seen him in, that I’m aware of, and I wasn’t impressed; that is to say he didn’t have any lines, or do anything, that sticks out in my mind.
funny people wasnt that great of a movie. usually i like apatows stuff. i left with a “meh”, i hate the term “meh.” definetly not his best work, apatow or scwartzman
Wow, at first I thought some of that was real. I could see the fake blue round lights, but thought the light bar was real and the equipment on the roof. Then looking more at it., saw the shadow of the proton packs. Even though it is a fake, WOW nice photoshop
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, the only guy I’d want to see involved from that group of actors is Bill Hader (Superbad, Adventureland). I like Paul Rudd, but I don’t think he’d fit. Other than Hader, any involvement by the rest of the ‘Apatow’ group would just annoy me.
It is the worst idea in the history of film to add the apatow bunch to ghostbusters. I think god would knock us all off the face of the earth if that happened. A big tidal wave would come and wash us into the sea on opening night.
