The Ecto Siren "crunch"

Ok, so when I was looking for an ecto siren sound file, basically all I found around the intar-webs was this…

now if you listen to this at the start of each time it loops there seems to be a stray sound (what I have been affectionately referring to as “the ecto siren crunch” just cause when i try to describe the sound, the word “crunch” is just what comes to mind for me)

now at first i thought, “hmm is that really what the siren sounded like?” and so i went back and looked and from what i can tell, no it is not. example here…

when i found this out it totally killed this sound file for me. every time i heard it that’s all i could hear was that “crunchy” sound. it drove me nuts. so i brought it to someone i know who is an audio engineer and asked him what he could do with it. here is what he gave me back

i still don’t feel it’s perfect, but for me at least i felt it was an improvement. so i figured it would offer it up for the communities judgement.

i listened to all the hprops and the movie clip…you’re right. the hprops siren isn’t 100% accurate to the movie. its basically a looped version of the startup of the siren. the one your friend made is way off too, his comes in fades, more of an echo effect. i challenge us as a board to make a better siren effect…someone’s gotta know how to, i sure as hell don’t.
