The Real Ghostbusters Pilot Equipment

This is research screen caps for help understanding the designs of the Pilot of the shows equipment. No clue if these are of interest to others out there, but as a fan, I’d love to see the PKE Meter given a try. Maybe the trap too.

Note these images are from Ghostbusters Wikia and yes I uploaded them there. But props is what GBFans is about and I am posting links to the images to see if interest in this will grow. (Warning some are decent size)

Interestingly these panels from the storyboards for Mrs. Rogers Neighborhood look to be the same PKE Meter

I’m aware of one Prop being made based on the Proton Pack already, but this may help others.

It’s obvious that many of the RGB toys are made from the pilot. I like them keeping the movie coveralls but the packs did need some upgrades. I had never seen the pilot until recently. Very interesting. Glad to see it evolved into the great cartoon it became. Thanks for the info. It sucks that the pilot was so short don’t you think?

The ORGB Equipment is also featured throughout the Milton Bradley board game, in some of the RGB coloring and smaller children’s books, and extensively throughout the Real Ghostbusters magazine (Some pics look to be directly from original DiC “style sheets”, before the actual designs were finalized)…

There are also some miscellanious shots (even scans of an old Kenner pitch brochure showing the lifesize equipment to be patterned after these designs, and as to why the actual Kenner PKE antennae looked the way it did) of the equipment in my old GB.net thread here:

In addition to my old thread, here is a link to the color version of one of the black and white ORGB photos in said old topic:

Wow! This is really interesting! I actually wondered as a kid why the toy pack didn’t look like the one on the cartoon. (Ultimately I just REALLY wanted to know where they were hiding the toys from the movies… :stuck_out_tongue: )

Wow I feel stupid for never catching on to the differences. I didn’t realise they reworked the equipment twice for the show. Sweet. Thanks for the post. You learn something new every day. I need to start watching my RGB box set again. I got sorta jaded with it after season four.
