Yes, when I was browsing this site, Windows PC Repair went haywire and said I had to buy a $50, but McAffee said it was OK. I’m not sure if it was from this site exactly, or if it was from clicking on the RD Patch Link on the left of the main page, but I got hit hard! Before I went out and spent money on this thing, I did a System Restore to take my computer back 2 days, and it was fixed! No more bogus warnings. So, if the same thing happens to anyone else out there browsing this site, don’t buy anything from anyone, just do a System Restore to about two days before you got hit, and you should be all set. No hard feelings to the site or anything like that, I still like ya.
“Windows PC Repair” sounds like a rogue antivirus.
The purpose of malware like this is to scare people into sending them money (hence the request for $50 from “Windows PC Repair,” which is NOT part of Microsoft Windows) or getting people’s credit card numbers. DON’T give them a credit card or ANY financial information!
Chances are, you were infected elsewhere (Do you download games/music or use software like Limewire/Frostwire?), and the false “security warning” just happened to pop up while browsing this site.
System restore may take care of it, but if you have a local computer shop or know someone experienced in malware/virus removal, I’d have them take a look at it and make sure you’re clean.
GBfans is a safe site, but the rest of the Internet is a scary place.
