I have decided id like to make my own GB1 thrower and am currently trying to track down all the parts
Im finding it very hard to find the light casings used on the guns. Thought its best to show a picture, saves alot of poor descriptions : )
Ive searched the forums but putting a name to these parts is tricky.
I live in London, going to head to maplin tomorrow.. see if I cant dismantle some of there light switchs, might get lucky! Id rather have the proper parts though.
I went to maplin at lunch and got some of the covers. Now ive got some they do look a bit small, especially going by the measurements on stefans plans.
Could someone please tell me were they got there light casings from? Moving beyond the LED covers, the red light on the thrower end of the wand looks different again, very fat and tall. So does the second light ontop by the 3 grill holes, very round and flat. I purchased a red switch which I think I could use for the end light. However im sure theres a specific part out there that everyone uses.
Any help would be appreicated! Its a hard thing to search for on the forums, light casing, LED bulbs.. what do you call them : )
Thanks for the reply. Looks like yuo can get 3mm and 5mm ones, ill pop back tomorrow and pick up some 5mm ones.
Still seem a bit small though, although measuring the ones I have they seem 5mm and the recipt says they are 3 mm. Hopefully the 5mm ones will be similarly large and measure 8 / 9 mm. The difference between seeing a drawing and seeing it in person.
As for the other lights, still no idea were to get them:
These appear different to the LED clip lites, some large and others flatter. Where can I get these? anyone know please?
get the orange from usmc buzz u’ll notice in pic A u circle a light and in pick B u circled the same light one eprson mentioned using the end of a glue stick for that light. a for the top light i pic B i would get an orange top hat from usmc buzz and painting it white
Well.. considering how I started with my GB1 wand im quite pleased with how my light search is going! Ive found the led clip lites from maplin here in the UK. Uscm buzz is sending me some of the far right orange lights and middle similar in design white lights in this picture:
Im still on the look out for one of the flat one in this image though:
Im still unsure of its colour though. Ive seen them both clear and red… people have said they changed in each film. Im guessing clear in the first and red in the second… havent been able to confirm though!
All your circled lights are the same type of light, some orange some white, and the “flat” on is recessed so you are only seeing the top of it… Yes, they varied from gun to gun, most likely they used what they had when building guns and as usually with movie prop making it was close enough… They are a vintage incredibly hard to find “top hat style” pilot lights, there is a new version that has been found that is very similar in design but a good retail supplier has not be located… The originals are long out of production and there are VERY few around, it makes the Legris elbow an easy find in comparison…
You’ll need to cut the bottoms off and remove the lamps, but they look really nice on the wands. I bought them last year from the Action-Electrons shop Coover5 mentioned previously. (http://www.action-electronics.com/pilotlights.htm).
