Here’s how I drilled and mounted my Exoray bumper to an alkaline shell
.
First I determined the exact center of the bumper’s middle rectangle area. I just penciled a line from each corner then drilled at the “X” of the pencil lines. Sorry no pics for this, but not very difficult.
The top edges of the bumper seem to run even with the two upper cyclotron light’s outer rings lowest edges.
I held it there while I drilled through the bumper and shell for the shock mount.
Then I mounted the shock mount in order to hold bumper steady while I drilled for the side screws. I made sure to keep the bumper parallel with the side plates.
I really just eyeballed the position and drilled the bumper and shell at the same time.
Started with 1/8 drill bit. After the hole is done ,remove your drill bit and place it in the hole to hold the bumper while you align the bumper for your second hole using a 9/64 bit.
I worked on one side at a time. Bolted that side then repeated the same process on the opposite side. I found I had to push a little to get things lined up but the bumper flexible enough.
