Looks great man. Weather that shock mount. Looks too new.
Yeah thats one of the things I’ll do this weekend. I want the rest of the pack to weather itself but I’ll go ahead and do the shock mount.
Steel wool, gold paint, black paint and some fuller’s earth.
Looking great! Love all of that aluminum. I love that Krylon BBQ black paint, makes a big difference huh? I hit mine all over very lightly with some steel wool to take a tiny bit of the sheen off in some areas.
Great job!
Thanks for necroing my build thread! Convenient because I’m currently making some upgrades before Dragoncon. Swapping the light and sound for R2Devo’s V8 lights and Crix’s sound kit pluse Spongface’s pre-amp. Also got in my GB1 cable that I’ll be putting on too. ![]()
Question for the electronic savvy people. I have all my electronics set up just like the following diagram:

When I turn the battery on then flick switch that completes the circuit to the sound kit, the shut down sound plays since the DPDT switch on the gun is in the “Power Down” position. Is there a way to wire this up to where no sound will come out until the DPDT toggles are thrown? I think that makes sense.
The main things making this tricky for me is the Pre-amp and the master switch that R2Devo has on his light kits.
Not to high jack a thread but whats the problem with painting a pack silver seems like the best way to let it naturally weather?
Finished up my pack last night. Still need to finish the work on my friend’s. Added the GB1 cable, real Crank knob and legris straights. The lights and sounds were replaced with R2Devo lights and Crix sound board with Spongeface’s pre-amp. Thanks to wm6929 and Namssorg for some pointers in getting everything wired up right. I’ll hopefully be able to take some new pics over the next few days.
That is a fine looking pack, sir. Sounds good, too!
Looks top notch! Nice parts, well put together.
A couple of updated pics of both packs. Ready to hit Dcon this weekend.

And I just like this one lol

The only thing I want to do right now is change out the elbows for more accurate ones and I still need to weather that shock mount. Everything else is minor such as changing out the washers and a few screws for more accurate ones. For example, I need to change the screws on the clippards on the front of the throwers.
Nice packs! See you at DC!
Decided to make a few quick adjustments before Halloween. I feel like I always have to be doing something with these. lol
Finally got around to putting the S-hook on both throwers.
The gun tracks had been beat up a bit from conventions and putting the thrower back on the V-hook solo. Took the v-hook off and took a dremel to the gun track to make room for the s-hook.
The rest was a lot simpler than I thought. Twisted the s-hook to 90 degrees. I used the pics taken from the PiH pack to help find a washer that gave a similar appearance when placed over the hook. I retouched the paint and added the decals.
Another small edit we made was fixing the wiring for our sound kit. We went byMburkit’s Sound Tutorial originally. One problem we kept having was how bad everything sounded when we turned the volume up. Turns out our two speakers, that Burkit linked in the tutorial, were wired in series instead of parallel. Everything sounds much better and extremely loud now.
