Me and friend have recently been working independently on an updated set of plans. My starting point on this was Stefans. Then I reviewed Elite and also talked to some other people and did alot of reading. The entire thrower has been drawn up in Solid Works. My goal is to make an accessible set of CAD drawings for anyone who might want to try and build their own thrower. Would love to get some community feedback and interest on this so we can make sure that these plans are up to par for the community.
Krenzy!!! I just realized I don’t have anything for that. I knew I missed something. I need to find dimensions for this to draw it up and add it on. Thank you so much for catching this!!
Possibly I need to generate pdf drawings for the files still so I’m not giving out solidworks files left and right. I can also get any dimensions you need.
Fyi Jay is correct - the barrel lock nearest the front peg on the thrower should have the grip between that and the front ear with the button and hat light sir. The barrel lock should move with the grip whilst the barrel rotates
TY I understand but you misunderstood what I’m saying I literally was just playing around with rotating parts in solidworks not meant to be representation of the Barrel Twist. The actual assembly is built correctly I just didn’t turn the gun lock when I was toying around. So it’s just a improper export just to show off the parts. The real thrower is built correctly. Look at the original image I posted is shows everything placed correctly.
I would like to start discussions on fixing any inaccuracies there may be on the drawings created for this. I am using Solidworks and have started generating 2d Drawings of the parts. Wondering who all would be interested in helping to review these.
Things are dragging on but finally moving forward with some bodies being produced here in the next few weeks. One change is I got smart and have gone to standard tubing sizes between the information gathered in this thread
I used the front view of the screen used thrower in the first linked thread and the tolerances from the 2nd. Knowing that the outer most tube has a 1 1/4 OD the rest fell into place when I combined all the information. This has been an obsessive search for almost a week now trying to get all the right info together which I feel I can finally put to rest.
I just came across this thread and wanted to share this. I recently decided to upgrade to aluminum thrower. My dad has access to a lot of high end machinery at his work. So I’m having him and his buddy’s at his work drawing up wand plans on Solid Works and building a few alluminum body’s . Its bit tough because I’m not there at his work place to guide him on the details of the gun as he’s drawing it up but I gave him as much reference photos I possibly could get off this site as well as measurments from Sean’s Proton Pack plans and Stefans Plans. The drawing is about all finished up on solid works except for the gun track. So if I can help in any way by sharing what we came up with too let me know. Looks like you may have everything covered though! The drawing looks great!
I haven't had a chance to over look our final plans yet but from last I saw they looked pretty good . I'm hoping they will be able to start cutting the aluminum parts out on their water jet this week . Since majority of the work is putting it together on the software I'm having them make a couple extra (2-5 throwers total) throwers once they start cutting because the rest of the work is pretty much gonna be made by machine. I will post pics soon on another thread so that I can sell these extras (one time only for cheap price) so that I may make some of the money back I spent on this damn expensive hobby of mine and give the guys who helped a little cash in their pocket for taking time out of their day (Even though they are getting paid because they are making these while on the clock lol) Once they are gone they are gone , I don't intend on making anymore to sell. I totally respect the fact that most people share their software build files for a small fee because of all the hard work that goes into drawing it up on computer software. But I agree it would be nice to have some sort of updated software with wand measurments for future reference available for public access.
Are there any links or pics posted in this thread or somewhere else that have your measurments ? Id like to have something I can compare our drawing to just so I feel like they are on the right track. If you would like I will post our drawing up sometime this week when he sends it to me. I'd like to get your input as well. Thanks for sharing this!!
