No, you can’t find an accurate one in the store. As far as being exspensive, I think they are pretty resonably priced considering they are hand made and kinda complex pieces.
These v clips are also found on farm equiptment. I used to farm and those clips were on all sorts of things. One thing they are primarily found on is the slow moving vehicle sign. You’ll probably have to look online for implement dealers or farm supply places. You might want to check out Tractor Supply. These things come in different sizes, so youll just have to make sure you get the right one.
I’m going to try Tractor Supply Company, because that’s one I haven’t heard yet. But, honestly, guys- the gun bracket is proving (to me at least) to be the hardest thing on the pack to find. (Well, that and the cyclotronbumper.)
Is there anyone who sells them for a reasonable amount? (I say reasonable, because I would be buying more than one - I need them for four packs, plus any traps I would be building. So, I imagine it could get pretty costly real quick.)
the clips for mounting the gun are pretty easy to make first cut the shape out on 3/16 in steel then bevel the outer edges cut the other half out of 18 ga sheet metal about 3/16 in larger on the bevel sides center the two pieces clamp in vice and hammer the edges over seperate grind to fit drill holes to mount and viola 8)
Bill- thanks for the tip on explaining how to make them. I mean, I realize that the method in which they work is not rocket science- just two slabs of metal interlocking. But…I just don’t have the tools to make them. Isn’t sheetmetal pretty hard to cut? (I’m trying not to sound like one of those people that wants his/her proton pack “off-the-shelf.”) I mean…I’ve made the rest of the pack from the ground up. It just seems that this one part is beyond my capabilities. :?
the v hooks are harder to hook than the flush mount I bought a set after I read the post but I like the look of the v hooks anyway the main thing is to use anything you would like as long as it works for you 8)
In a quick search I found this, which is similar but I do not believe to be exact. On this website they call it a “SMV Mounting Bracket”. I have yet to find a male half that looks like the one on the Proton Pack.
