I ask because at least one of my name badges is wider than the velcro strip, so do I just have it sewn over the velcro, or should it be attached to the velcro with the sides hanging loose?
Remove the Velcro from the suit and sew the name patch onto the suit. Just line it up correctly with the middle zipper. A big pet peeve of mine is seeing name patches way over to the left (if you’re wearing the suit perspective). Look at the reference photos and you’ll see where to put it.

I tried using the uniform reference photos from the main site (though a friend with a sewing machine actually attached it for me).
I feel the same way. But first time I tried on my Alice frame I had to move it even more to the left so that my name stays visible with a pack on. Happy with how it turned out
Rotcho suit so the pockets are lower. Next suit will be bought from GBfans..
The truspec suit pockets are lower too. If you want closer pocket locations, plus the leg pockets, look for a nomex suit on one of those fancy online auction sites.
