What prop replica would you like to see Matty do next???

Since the PKE meter went over so well and sold out completely in a matter of days I’m sure they will do more. What would you guys like to see??? In my opinion I think the trap would be the way to go. The pack seems a bit impractical, I think, but I think they could do a pretty good trap. Opinions???

(This might have been posted before, and if so, I apologize.)

Since it’s Mattel…my guess would be they’ll want to keep it fairly small still. I doubt we’ll see a Proton Pack or something extravagant like that. My guess would be something around the same size…allowing for roughly the same price. So maybe some Goggles, a Gigameter or possibly a Trap

A trap would be cool, but I think I would like to see the goggles first. They could be close to the same price as the pke and I would be interested to see how they’s make the display on the inside of the goggles. Movie, Game, or both.

Trap would be my fav, but I realistically would think they would make goggles if they did another. Which I would buy.

I think it’s far too difficult to tell what they won’t make but i would say like most either the goggles or trap

Here are some examples of toy/replica comparisons and other details of replicas past that i found interesting:

pke meter mattel $60 / making it yourself $450

DST toys TOS phaser 27.99 / master replicas $300+

AA ENT phase pistol and comunicator pack $30- / roddenberry phase pistol replica $699.95 and communicator $499.95

park sabers graflex flash saber $150/ luke saber replica in star wars magazine circa '95 $300

Now the cheaper options aren’t 100% accurate but they all had amazing quality (the toy ent phase pistols were modified and used on the show) so I have to wonder how a pack would turn out . Sure there would be more seams and the lights would do less (god knows how the alice frame will be handled) but I think you would get a result that is respectable to wear.

My vote would be either goggles or the belt gizmo. Both would be in the same ballpark both size and price-wise I would think.

The easiest with enough fan appeal to produce worthy sales? Ecto-Goggles.

Next above that I would guess to be the Trap. Though debatable if they’d make it w/ motor and lights, or if they’d try to make it w/ a removable cartridge. Not sure which people would rather have. Doubtful it could be both.

Ghost Sniffer… nah. It’s a box w/ a couple tubes. Has some fan appeal but wouldn’t have fan bucks.

K.U.D. meter… another no. That wouldn’t break triple digit sales.

Slime Scoop. This is a wild card. I think people liked it from GB2, but just don’t know if $50-$100 purchase like it.

Giga Meter. I don’t think this could get PKE sales, but it’d be a contender for the Mattel thinktank.

Really I think it comes down to either the Goggles or Trap. Those are the most iconic pieces that would draw a large enough market for warrant Mattel’s time. Because items like a Proton Pack or Slime Blower are out of the question almost certainly due to size and scope of the project. Unless Mattel makes good sales throughout the next year with their GB line of products and Sony actually produces a new movie… in which case who knows Proton Packs might show up in your local Toys R Us?

I think a sniffer and kud two pack would be popular enough but I agree them alone would probably not get the sales desired.

I can see them doing ecto goggles.

My guess is going to be the trap, but I’d prefer the Ecto-Goggles.

I’d love to have some nice, wearable, accurate goggles, with a nice display on the inside.

We’ll have to wait and see. Hopefully it won’t take too long before an announcement is made.

A trap would be excellent.

Crazy wildest dreams? Proton Pack.

Realistic items I can see happening and hope that do? Trap and Ecto Goggles, as pretty much everyone else has stated.

I’m also kinda hoping they do an RGB PKE meter, with lights and sound. That would be fantastic.

I wouldn’t for a second expect them to do a Ghost Trap. If you examine it logically, it’s a much larger, much more complex subject than the PKE Meter. It has lots of found parts, and a ton of metal. You have to do the pedal, it would have to open the doors ( ‘playability’ is a very important part in any item they sell )

In the end it would probably cost 3 times as much as a PKE, and that’s for an all plastic Trap-- which heavily diminishes the “prop replica” ideology.

The PKE Meter was special because the actual prop was essentially a simple plastic shell with some electronics inside… just like a lot of toys you find everyday.

I’m really hoping they do some Ecto-Goggles. I don’t know what they would come up with when you look through them, but I would love to see a 3D View-master effect, with different ghosts you could cycle through. How fun would that be?

If they do another GB MOVIE prop, it’s likely going to be the Goggles or the Giga. I don’t think they would even attempt something that would require a lot of metal pieces like the Trap, and the pack and gun have too many things on them produced by other companies who may not feel too kindly towards Matty replicating them. The sniffer would be easy to produce, but who outside of this community is going to buy it? The casual fan won’t care for it.

As for cartoon props… sky is the limit.

Goggles would be the most logical idea they could do. We have the means of detecting these SOB’s now we need a way to see them right?

I’d like to see a belt gizmo myself…

That would be my personal first choice–I always liked it more than the movie meter anyway.

But the Ecto Goggles are the most likely follow up to the PKE Meter.

I would be totally down for a nice set of goggles or giga meter. I’m curious as to what, if any, electronics would be in the goggles if made? I’m assuming that it would probably have the radar sweep and the yellow to red bargraph which would be really cool. As someone earlier pointed out, the possibilities for a trap or anything larger scale is probably pretty remote especially a pack or a sliime blower. However a trap could be made if the the side plates are a chrome plated plastic or just a silver painted plastic. You effectively could cut costs that way. However the addition of the pedal would make the price go up but would be amazing since you could open and close the trap with it. I could see the pedal having 2 modes, stepping on the pedal once makes it open with blue leds inside and a second step would close it activating the bargraph sequence followed by the blinking light for like 20 seconds. Realistically Matty will probably release a pair of goggles with a few lights and probably close out the prop replicas. But who knows?

If by prop replica, you mean toy.

Then goggles, its really the only feasible option.

Good point. Obviously the elusiveness of the PKE to most prop builder/costumers made it a hot commodity. But I’m not sure if any of the other smaller props( goggles, Giga) would warrant that kind of response? Especially when you can build a decent looking pair of goggles from hardware parts. Would it be sweet to have a mostly accurate pair of goggles? Yes. Would a Matty release be highly sought after and sell out quickly? Maybe. I’d imagine that one more “Replica” will come down, probably goggles, since it would require almost no electronics and that will probably be it. And that will probably be based on sales. But again Matty really did deliver with the PKE, especially for the price tag. So I’m looking forward to see what they come up with.
