Wiring the sound boards, lighting to speakers

Hi all. Im building a proton pack from scratch using virtually no bought parts, I am using the elite Proton Wand plans and the Stefan proton pack plans. I am converting the measurements from inches to MM and then going to be altering the plans to suit the materials i have available.

I have a question about the sound and light boards available, i see that they are powered using a 9v battery. How do you connect them to a set of speakers and also power the speakers. Do you use the same power source as the sound boards r so you have to use a separate battery, such as a bigger capacity battery.

Ill be posting photos as i go and would like to get in touch with people over here in the UK.

I noticed on a build up , there was an operating lever on the wand where you pulled the lever down and the barrel extended out.

Cheers

stefan’s plans are already converted to mm though right?

Yes they are, and are awesome plans but im having to d some rounding up of numbers.

to power the speaker you will need an amp for it. some sound kits out there have built in amps and some don’t. from what i have seen the ones that dont have them have ports to connect to for the amp and speaker.

I am going to use a set of 9v PC speakers which you just plug in, i believe they have an amp already attached to them. The controls on the speakers i am going to mount to the knobs on the proton pack.

ah, because they’re at 3 decimal places too. yeah that part was fairly difficult to figure out with english units.

lol, i totally forgot how much more work that was.

Even though i am having to alter some of the figures. It is working out to be about 1 or 2 mm off from the dimensions on the plans, the pack is made mostly from layered up plywood and MDF. and some of the parts will be made from styrene cut to shape. it is going to be heavy.

But to quote Bill Murray in GB 2, in the scene from the court house when he is putting the pack on again. “i always hated this part of the business”

Yeah, that’s the same problem I have which is why my current pack build is off a bit when it comes to the measurements. I basicly just rounded everything off. Wrong way to do it, but the quickest.

i had to round them off. But with the difference in many of the measurements only being in the 0.5 mm range to 1.mm it is not even noticeable. Some of the smaller parts i am having laser cut from acrylics so they fit perfectly.

Here is the proton pack sfar, im replacing the cardboard tubes with acrylic rod.

How do i insert an image on here?

If you are using firefox right click and select copy image location. Then when you want to post a comment click the Img button and paste the link in between.Like so:

looks great so far, what are you using for the cyclotron spacer?

im using plywood for most of the build, the areas where there are lots of tight angles im using sheet styrene and acrylic tube. The motherboard is made from 12mm plywood as i do not have access to aluminium.
