Z's first trap.

OK!

So…i kinda lost my old trap cartridge…so…I made a new one!

I decided to redo the inside cartridge. This time I made it out of a block of Styrofoam.

damn what are you gonna coat that foam in ? bondo?

waiting for it to dry right now, but I am pulling a Gareee on this one.

I am coating it in housepaint. But after that dries, I ma going to coat it in a wood glue/water mix

I think bondo would probably eat the foam up. Also the front indicator block should be higher up, so the trap doors could normally hinge into those side blocks that attach to that front indicator block.

You can get galvanized aluminum very cheap at lowe’s or home depot, cut that with a heavy duty scissors and get the sides and front a lightweight real metallic look.. just be careful, cause that stuff is sharp!

I have another block of the same size foam, for…well…“just in case”

I still need to make the side blocks.

Gareee: I know what you mean about the metal. I used some on my 1st Pyramid Head build.

“1st Pyramid Head build” ???

You had to ask didn’t you…

Interested in seeing how well the styrofoam thing works out, pretty cool.

Small update:

Block has been covered in putty and sanded. Just added the side things at the front and added putty to them.

Define “sanded”…LOL! Looks like a trap cake! (And I LOVE cake!)

It was all like the front. I need to sand more. It was in the wee hours of the morning when I posted that.

XD

LOL..I was kidding. The biggest issue though I think you’l have is if you are in crowded events, like dragoncon or megacon. The trap sits right down there where people don’t see, and bump into you.

Thats why I ended up doing our traps in MDF.. heavier, but more durable.

Whats going on with this trap? C’mon Z… Stop teasing

it is on hold, like all my projects. it is still packed from the move.

Doing a little work on the trap today.

Still need to make the handle, cut the plates out of the plastic I bought, paint them, and attach them to the trap.

This trap is a “Stunt Trap” and may not come off my belt at all. So there will be no wheels, the doors dont open, and I may not make the foot pedal.

update…

Sorry about the dark pics. They were taken in a dark theater right before rehearsals

I am going to head to Thiago’s tomorrow to get a resin resister for the side of the trap. After that I am gonna start on making the pedal

I didn’t even finish out pedals… BTW, if you go the split loom route, Lowe’s has 10 feet for about $3.50. (I used pvc plumbing and electrical parts four our hose connectors, instead of the solid metal heavier ones.)

I used 5 feet of loom, and that was plenty. The problem with using coax cable is its very heavy. You could use black vinyl hose from Lowe’s since its lighter, and a smaller diameter, but its more expensive then the split loom.

I also preferred the GB2 look of the split loom over the GB1 coax cable look.

Made a holder for the trap and got it attached to my belt now.
