What’s holding down the padding on the top of the ALICE frame? Is it taped on there, or is it zip ties, or something else? I couldn’t tell from the reference photos.
I used zip ties. I tried hot glue but it came off.

Some of the packs appear to have a second layer of pipe insulation, this time rubber, over the first. Possibly an upgrade when they added the additional padding to the shoulder straps?

I think the GB1 packs were closer to the 2nd example above (though some with gaffer tape too?). Can someone who knows for sure chime in?
GB1 is one layers. But the layer has an inner white color.

I did it with pipe insulation and Gorilla glue’s tape. It seems like a glossier version of Gaffer tape.
I think it looks pretty good.
