Ok so here they are in their uniforms vs the REAL Ghostbusters. Even when not comparing them to the originals, this just looks bad. Their uniforms look like sanitation department outfits, none of them seem to have any chemistry with one another. I dunno, what look they were going for in this pic, and maybe I’m just looking at it thru my ecto-goggles, but nothing about this to me seems right. And that necklace Leslie Jones is wearing… my God. Thoughts guys?
I liked the look of the new uniforms from Fieg’s Twitter feed on the rack. But now I see them all together, yeah Something is just off. When you look at the pictures, you’re kinda drawn to the stripes across their chests. Maybe this was intentional?
The originals were supposed to look like used flight suits, but these seem like they took that “sloppy shiek” look a little to far. They look like the uniforms were thrown in a corner and left crumpled up for a few days.
Another thing, where are the name tags? Arm Logos? Utility belts? This seems to be an early picture missing a lot of essential gadgets and greeblies.
I agree that these girls just don’t look like there is any chemistry. Maybe it’s just the picture, but yeah it doesn’t scream “we are a team”.
The only thing bugging me with Leslie Jones is her height. She just seems out of place because she is a very tall woman. She looms over the other three. Almost like Vigo looming from his picture in GB2.
Still want to see some trailer-type scenes to get a better idea of the story and chemistry.
Something has occurred to me. The uniforms are coveralls, the packs, EGB in design, the thrower RGB (Even has a similar design), Plus Ecto-2 being a motorcycle similar to the cartoon and Kate McKinnon looks like RGB Egon. Anyone else feel like Dippold and Feig decided to leave the original films alone and use the cartoons as an example? I mean lot of the plot points sound like RGB plots
I’m just not into it. It’s as simple as I grew up with the original GBs, and I love those guys, and these aren’t it. I wish them well with the new movie but to me it’s like replacing, I don’t know, Laurel and Hardy with some other fat guy and skinny guy but still calling them Laurel and Hardy. Hope people enjoy the new one but I just can’t muster any interest in it.
Still watching it because Kate McKinnon intrigues me… I’m curious about her character… The others, not so much, but again, not judging it till I see it… Who knows, I may end up liking Leslie Jones’ character, and completely disliking Kate’s, which is the complete opposite of my current opinion…
The top photo is just a candid shot taken by some random person right? The 84 GB’s shot is a professional promo shot.
IE, one is of the crew probably hot and tired from a full day of shooting and some stranger just snapped a random photo and the other is staged. That’s my take on the chemistry bit. If you look at more photos from that day there’s on that shows them in a little better light. I tried finding it just now but I don’t see it now.
As for the new uniforms, I’m not a big fan but we’ll see how it comes together. It’s been said a few times already but there aren’t any badges or nametags because this is probably a very early in the movie scene. They probably have a set of four uniforms without tags and badges and another set with.
Personally, I don’t think I’ll like this movie too much but like others on the forum, I’m over my dislike at this point. The movie is going to happen so might as well try and enjoy the ride. I’ll admit, I was 100% against this when I first heard about it but as things leak I’m getting more and more excited. Not GB3 excited, but EGB excited. LOL. The pack is slowly growing on me, the ecto is slowly growing on me, although I’m with most of you on that yellow light on the front. I’ll probably see it in theaters and I’m expecting that I’ll walk out and say that it was good but not great. But then again I feel that way with most modern movies minus the Marvel Universe.
Yeah, there are all sorts of reasons that the comparison picture of the ORIGINAL Ghostbusters (both of them are real Ghostbusters) is unfair.
A. As has been pointed out already above, these are the uniforms before nametags and patches are added. I’ve seen a close up of McCarthy’s suit in one picture and she has a nametag that says ‘Yates.’
B. The '84 shot shows them decked out in their equipment, where as the new picture has no belts, no elbow pads, no boots, no packs, no nothing.
C. Again, as stated above, one is a candid photo and the other a promotional image.
So comments can be made about the coveralls, but this isn’t the complete uniform. I cannot wait to see them suited up, gear and all to see what they look like. Until then, the above pic is nifty and hints at the final product, but is nowhere near it.
It’s interesting to note their age differences. It varies from 31 to 48, with Wiig and McCarthy being 42 and 45 respectively. Except for McKinnon, all of them is well into their 40s. For reference, Harold Ramis was the oldest one with 40 years old in 1984, Ernie was only one year younger. Dan was the youngest with 32, and Murray was 34.
I’m still not pro-reboot, but I will admit that I’m intrigued by Kate McKinnon. She reminds me of Real Ghostbusters Egon. I dig her eccentric look and it makes me think Ghostbuster.
Everything I’ve seen of her from leaked pics and videos make me smile. She definitely created an interesting character that seems to have her own walk, style, and attitude.
I cannot wait to see the first trailer and get a taste for where this film is going. Seeing props and suits and cars from leaked pics is one thing, but seeing it all in action is totally different. The like this reboot more and more and my wife is losing her mind over it (in a good way).
