Hey everyone,
I’m getting to that crucial stage of my pack construction. Many of the sections are being filled and sanded to smoothness, and I’ve got many of my small pieces (dale resistors, fittings, etc.) primed and painted.
My question is, how should I order things when assembling the pack.
Do I prime the top pieces (i.e. ion arm) before attaching them to the EDA box? Do I prime both, then assemble? Do I paint both seperately, then glue together? And when should I permanently attach all those other pieces/fittings? After the rest of the pack is painted, or as I am putting it together? OK, I think I’ve got my point across. Marsupial’s pictures have made me start to want the answer to this question on how to prepare and operate on the painting.

P.S. As a side note, my 1" dia. PVC pipe and Vacuum Hose are a pretty loose connection. Is this typically filled with putty, or should they fit snugly enough to just need some hot glue?

You should prime everything and make sure all the components are smooth enough to your satisfaction, then assemble everything. Once assembled, spray everything black then attach your resistors and other detail parts.
Regarding your PVC pipe issue…if I’m reading you right, try wrapping the end of the hose in electrical tape and stuff it inside the pipe.
When you say pretty loose, how loose are we talking? The connection is loose enough to need glue, but it’s not that loose. You sure you have the right diameter hose? 3/4" ID?
I noticed one of the Planet Hollywood packs had the hose off it, and instead of being a tube, that part looked like a dowel with a short length of a smaller radius dowel on the tip. If you want to be really sure, maybe you could glue a bit of 3/4" dowel inside the end of the hose to keep it frm compressing. Or screw a 3/4" dowel inside the tube on the pack that the hose goes into and slide the hose over that then glue it.
If your gluing, painting should come last. Cause if you try and stick something after its painting all your sticking is the paint. My favoured method is a countersunk screw then filling the hole. Only trouble is… it don’t come back off! But I’d say it holds best
