Bill Murray's Acceptance Speech at Scream Awards

anyone have video of his whole appearance including when Sigourney was with him? I missed the awards last night. I’d also like to see the BTTF tribute.

No they played it. Which is what made the whole thing that much more bad ass.

I just caught the broadcast this morning (finally). Wow, wow, wow. It’s mindblowing to think the Proton Pack I’ve been displaying in my office is the same one Bill wore on stage. I think I’ll be too intimidated to ever wear it again! J Ryan and Sean really outdid themselves on this one.

Did you get him to sign it?

yeah what was with that, true blood got everything it was in the running for. “Now the award for best classic 80’s movie- Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Alien…and the winnder is… True Blood! Woooo”

Sorry to say but until I’m standing in line waiting to get in the theater I’m going to be sceptical as to wether this movie is happening. Even then I might not believe it. But that’ll be a good not believing it.

While I think that his roles in the GB movies were iconic, I remember him as the actor because of all the memorable moments in TV and movies that he has portrayed. SNL, Meatballs, Groundhog Day, Caddyshack, What About Bob?, Stripes, and so many more. He is just an amazing actor with so much to his credit and so many different roles to sum him up in just one role is unfair to his brilliance. Its like remembering Belushi only for Jake Blues.

His acceptance speech was the bomb though! I have to admit that I geeked out too.

Awesome, worth watching an awards show for.

According to Sean this morning, Bill didn’t sign it. They kept everything on a professional level and didn’t ask.

Correct – J said he didn’t get any signatures. But that’s cool with me. When we got Dan Aykroyd & Ernie Hudson’s autographs on it, I thought for sure there was no way we could get Bill Murray anywhere close to the pack. How wrong I was! As far as I’m concerned, him wearing it on stage is even better than an autograph!

Bill Murray is so great guy.Good speech

No autograph?! Epic Fail! :frowning:

You are one of the biggest idiots on this forum.

I agree. However, when you are working a professional/industry event such as this (a non-con), it’s bad practice to ask for them.

It was disheartening for me not to get Cal Ripken, Jr.'s autograph when I interviewed him for my TV station a few years ago. However, you’re there to do the job as a pro.

I know right? All they could do was get him to WEAR it!.. :whatever:

Hey AJ, who’s this wiggler?

I think he true designation between a fan and a fanboy is knowing when NOT to get it signed.

Sometimes you don’t need a record of the event, you just need the event, y’know? Especially when you’re all working back there.

At least me, Steve, and J have televised proof.

That’s better than a signature.

Venky

From this I heard that he was hoping people don’t take him dressed in full gear as a sign of GhostBusters 3 IS coming.

You hit the nail right on the head with that one. Most people don’t realize that when you’re working in flim/tv, you don’t ask for autographs on a shoot day. It’s considered rude and looked down upon in the industry.

Besides, having him WEAR it makes it way cooler in my eyes. There are plenty of autographed packs out there. But only ONE that Bill Murray wore on stage in front of the entire world. That makes it “official” in my book.

And knowing J, there will be other opportunities to get it signed in the future.

anyone with the number 69 in their screen name is automatically a winner in my book!

i’ve always been a bit perplexed by the whole autograph thing. i just don’t get it. having someone quickly scribble their name with a sharpie on something seems a bit pointless. i could see it being kinda neat having an autographed poster if you worked closely on a project with a famous person you really admire, or possibly photo together after a dinner or something more personable… but not a quick encounter. i would much rather shoot the shit with someone i admire for a few minutes that awkwardly asking for them to sign something. to each their own, i guess.

sean and j’s thing with the pack couldn’t have been any cooler. again… congrats, guys!

murray’s speech was INCREDIBLY classy!

I watched the scream awards last night and this was the best part of the show and like some people on here said and which I agree true blood did not deserve any awards hell you minus well called the show last night the true blood awards. What ■■■■■■ me off was someone in the crowd while Bill was talking yelled out Groundhog Day sucked now if I was standing in the crowd I would of found out who yelled that and broke his nose totally disrespectful. But overall Back to the Future 25th anniversary and Bill Murray was the best parts of the show.
