Building a DIY N-Filter Vape Smoke Kit

Yep, that’s the challenge with sub-ohm coils if you’re not running them on a dedicated power supply. Most of the batteries we use in packs don’t deliver that kind of current. You could get away with it if you use the battery that comes with that atomizer, but you’d need to hack up the switch to turn it on and off, and do something about charging it.

That will likely work great, and you should be able to run it all off the same circuit. Even though the pump is 4.5V, it’ll likely be fine running a little over that - especially since it’s only on for short periods.

The main reason behind the mix has to do with getting a good viscosity so the fluid wicks into the coil well. If it’s straight 100%, it can be too thick and cause dry hits as it burns off the juice faster than it flows. A higher VG ratio generally means better smoke, so you just have to find the balance where you get the smoke you want, without it clogging or gumming up. You can order a bottle of both VG and PG on Amazon pretty cheap (and you’ll basically never run out) and experiment with your blend on your own if you want to really maximize the effect.

I got the GBFans Vent kit relay board which just plugs in to the other board, hot-wired it all together and have successfully tested it working with gun activated or fire overheat activated vent sequences. So far so good!

Right now I am taking the opportunity to carefully place/loom these new parts in the shell, and rethink were the main electronics/battery live on the motherboard vs the shell.

I notice your vape chamber has the mouthpiece facing down to have a direct/straight/short gun to the fan. Any concerns about fluid leaking? Does this orientation encourage or discourage dry hits if the fluid gets low?

Thanks for your guidance/documentation in this thread. Getting close to buttoning it all back up.

I haven’t had any leak issues or dry hit problems, though I did do extra work to seal up the connection. In particular, the dry hit issue is avoided with this coil in particular because the wicks are being kept saturated better in that orientation. Now, if I was gonna do a hard blast, the risk might be there, but I never run it that long, and the pack’s overheat sequence is only a few seconds.

Apologies but I forgot to thank you for your responses.

I ended up going with a seperate power supply for the atomiser and also placed it on the outside for easier refill.

Managed to get it all together for Halloween and the smoke really is the cherry on the cake. Thanks to your post for all the valuable information.

Hi, is there a way to run a diy kit using an off the shelf relay as opposed to the ones specifically made for sponge face or any other maker? I bought some 5 volt relays and Im hoping to test them out on a diy rig im currently making.
