I have two girls, one is 4 and the other is 2. A long time ago my wife said “Let them ask you to dress up as Ghostbusters, that way you are not dragging them into your hobby..” this seemed like sage advice, it didn’t stop me from keeping an eye out for Kenner packs for the day one of them asked. Sure enough as I was building my new pack my eldest asked if she could dress up as a Ghostbusters too?

I decided that this one needed to be a LOT simpler than the last one since I know my kids will give it a beating. I decided to just do four windows on the Cyclotron and a fancy paint job. She said she wanted “PURPLE SPARKLES!”… OHHHHH-KAY. Purple sparkles it is…
I loved these kinds of builds and it makes me want to cut up a kenner pack. I have 6 of these packs sitting in my garage that I am cleaning up to make look original for my kids for halloween. I just do not think i could do it. If I could get someone to help me cast the body and a thrower from a kenner pack, then now we are talking.
You could probably vacuum form one if you made a buck (I doubt the real one would survive.) But at that point you might as well make a real scaled pack.
I’m going to need some touch up paint to get the details down a bit better. But, like I said. This is a toy for a 4 year old. It’s not supposed to be perfect, just to last.
I just cut away everything but the straps and the hanger ■■■■■■■■ the top (Makes a great way to hang the pack or if you need to carry it.)
I just could not find a option for a flight suit that I liked. So I ended up getting a school uniform dress for $19 shipped from Amazon. I will place the No Ghost on the arm of the back shirt and the name patch on the dress. We got the dress a size big so she might e able to wear it next year also. My wife vetoed the combat boots… Harumph.
Her patches are going to be hot pink from Lex San of the Pacific Northwest Ghostbusters. I got a web belt coming and will do some fobs for her. But overall, I’m pretty happy how it’s coming along.
I LOVE seeing the kenner packs re-imagined, but i love how the younger generation are still getting into our beloved franchise! Adorable little girl man, train her well in the ways of the buster!
Found a old set of xmas lights that I got from Walgreens after the holidays for like a $1.
Somehow I missed taking pictures of the inside of the pack??? I’ll get some pics later. I basically grouped the lights in threes, then split those up into five groups. The first three went up into wand. And then the others went into the pack. I had to extend the wires to the wand and run them through the original hose.
I had to make a panel for the back so that little hands would not pull everything apart.
You can see the battery pack up top. The lights have two functions, all on or alternating flashes.

I wanted to add a belt to her dress, but a few things have been hindering me.
My kid is shaped like a drinking straw.
I can see her taking it off within the first five minutes and then I end up carrying the darned thing all night. (Which will most likely happen with the pack anyway. :roll: )
Finding a kids sized tactical web belt is not easy or cheap.
A $5 tool belt and two $1 pink key fobs. My plan is to actually sew the belt to the dress and have the ends meet at the zipper in the back. The fobs I will sew directly to the belt in such a way that the hardware can be removed before washing. The buckle should be ok for the washing machine and the dryer on low. (Probably wash it inside out.)
Then, my mom saw the patches my buddy Lex had made and was suddenly reminded that SHE ALSO owns a embroidery machine! She asked if there were more patches that Amelie needed? Well, as a matter of fact… I wanted to put the “Nuclear Love” :love: patch on the other arm of her uniform, but the one in the shop is a little big at 3". So I downloaded a trail of SewArt and digitized a 2 1/2" version that I made in PS. Sent that to my mom and LITERALLY thirty minutes later she sent me this image -
Now I just need to find a long sleeved black shirt for her and get some labels. She also named her pack SPARKLES, so I am going to see if I can find a Twilight Sparkle glittery sticker for the motherboard.
