Sorry, I’m sure the topic has been done before. I can’t stand the PSN network for PS3. Xbox is so much better and I do plan to play online a bit. What was the special stuff that the PS3 comes with and does it out weigh a crappy connection and network vs 360?
Apparently, the scorchmark graphics in the 360 version are more detailed.
That’s all I’ve got.
seriously , the online support should be enough. once you try it, you will never want to use PSN again. I use PSN for home but with the exception of RE5 all my MP gaming gets done on the 360
From the reviews I read, the only thing extra on the PS3 release is a couple of videos: a feature about refurbishing the Ecto-1 (which is also included on the Blu-Ray release) and a trailer for the Blu-Ray release.
As Kingpin already noted, the graphics on the 360 are apparently a bit more detailed, with a few extra graphical effects (at least that’s what IGN’s review says).
Guess I should drop by and switch it back over. Thanks for the info guys.
im liking this form! ![]()
the ps3 is just put together better than the 360 i have both i got my ps3 as soon as they came out and my xbox like 2 years after they did and ive had 2 xboxs and no new ps3.
Umm if the 360 version is so much better why did they have to dumb the ps3 version down because of xbox idk weird?
this little quote from igns review “Although the PS3 has exclusive videos about refurbishing Ecto-1 and the Blu-ray trailer, the graphics seem to be a touch dumbed down on Sony’s system.” soo most of the time playstation would have better graphics is just xbox is not that powerful and it holds playstation back
Sounds like you’ve made the decision yourself. If online multiplayer is that important to you & you feel the PSN sucks that badly… What could they possibly offer you that would make you choose PS3 over the 360?
I really don’t think the PSN is lacking anything significant. I mean, what’s left? Cross game invites would be cool and maybe voice messaging, but otherwise they’re really on par. (PSN actually has some cross-game invites, but only on specific titles).
Plus, PSN is free. You can catch ghosts without a monthly fee!
personally i think that xbox live is a bigger gaming community dealy because thats all everyone thinks about when online gaming comes to mind. im getting it for the 360 because i need me my halo 3 too
Keep in mind the price of entry for XBL and the immediacy of the free network of PSN and you’ll find there’s a very comparable amount of people playing on both.
Well think about it like this. You (from the sound of it) really want to play on the xbox360 for online. I haven’t played online yet with the PS3 except for home which seemed to work without a problem to me. But I have played onthe xbox360 online afew times and it was smooth sailing as far as I’m concerned.
The PS3 version seems to come with the extra’s of the ecto-1 re-furbishment and blu-ray trailer. But since you have a PS3 and are a GB fan I will assume you will be buying the blu-ray anyway which makes those extra’s obsolete.
The Xbox360 can handle textures and such better which makes it possible to mostly have better graphics then the PS3. The strenght for the PS3 is that it can handle multiple moving object on screen at a time better. They both have their strengths. Just depends on which you preffer.
Also remember that Sony likes to F xbox360 by keeping things exclusive. So this could mean they may have add-ons to the game in the future that the xbox360 version may not get. I’m not saying this will happen as I’m not an expert or have inside knowledge into this. But just keep in mind the possability of this.
XBL admission for a year is 50$ (at least it is in europe) + 1 month free. PS3’s is free I think which is probably why xbox360’s is a bit better since you have to pay for it. You get what you pay for. Personally I don’t really like it that they charge for it. But it’s only 50$ for a whole year. It’s not the end of the world.
It’s my b-day this month so with that and skanker’s announcement with the 360’s being region-free, I’m getting both versions. and the wii and DS version because those are different ![]()
Like said before in this post I think you already made up your mind. But you just needed someone to ease it for you. I hope we helped with your decision.
Should point out though that while PSN is free for users alot of DLC is not available on the PSN for games as Sony makes game developers foot the bill more for hosting DLC and unless special deals are made between companies to sort this out, Bethesda a recent example over the late Fallout 3 DLC packs, companies are not keen to put DLC on the PSN.
Percentage of the XBL user subscripsion pays for hosting charges so thats why DLC gets on there without any fuss. Rather than take issue with the £40/$50 a year subscription fee I am more inclined to take issue with the prices of DLC in relation to MS Points you have to buy. Although only today rumors are going around that MS may drop MS points within a year and go for real cash pricing like the PSN which could possibly force prices down for DLC on XBL.
In the case of GB:TVG this will probably not be a factor on the PS3 though for the obvious reason that Sony owns the IP for GB and are more likely to make any future DLC exclusive to the PSN. This choice really only comes down to numbers of potential players online and quality of connectivity which in ether case you might as well flip a coin until the game comes out and players offer their own reviews.
My main reason for going for the 360 version is simply because that is the console I own, along with family and friends. If we all owned PS3’s instead, would probably be the other way around.
Apparently you and I have had totally different experiences with PSN. The only PS3 game I’ve ever had any sort of trouble with online was SOCOM: Confrontation, and well, let’s be honest, that is a terrible game. I’ve had much better experiences with cross-platform games on PSN than I have on Xbox Live. Call of Duty 4 is a great example of this. I’ve never really had problems with COD4 on PSN, but Xbox Live would often lag out in the middle of an intense match… and let’s not for get about the Red Ring of Death.
I had 2 360s RRoD on me and then I switched to PS3. Between the Red Ring and having to pay $50 for Xbox Live (which was always laggy for me) was just too much to deal with. Now, I’m not saying that the Xbox isn’t a good system, there are many great games that I feel I’ve missed out on or I wish I could still play, but if it weren’t for the fear of having another Xbox red ring on me, then I would still have a 360.
But, again, I’m not trying to start a flame war or anything like that, both systems have their faults and merits. I just grew to prefer the PS3. And let’s all remember that this is just one man’s humble opinion.
I’ve had tons of problems playing RE5, CoD world at work, CoD 4 and GTA4 online. Takes forever to find a match and most people don’t play seriously or drop out, unlike the 360. I have an account for xbox live and plan to keep it for other games, and I use it quite a bit, so the whole $50 a year thing isn’t an issue. I think the only reason was I thought there would be some good exclusive content, when really its a couple of videos, which I don’t need. I’m sure they’ll be on the internet before long and I can just download them.
I don’t think the 50 a year is that bad.
Anyone who has played an MMORPG knows that most of those online games cost about 15 bucks a month. That works out to around 180 dollars a year. Xbox live gives you voice chat, video chat, the ability to form up parties with voice chat enabled, not to mention the ability to play a large library of games that support online multiplayer… for only 50 dollars a year. That works out to about just a little over 4 bucks a month. (You can buy monthly cards & 3-month cards, but the 12 month card is the best deal.)
PSN isn’t horrible… but personally I too have a lot more connection issues with PSN than I do with XBL. Not only that, but PSN’s features are fewer than XBL’s. You get what you pay for… PSN is free… has less features than XBL and (for some) has more connection issues than XBL. XBL is a paid service… they have (for some ) fewer connection issues and they’ve got some more features than PSN.
If you already have had problems with PSN and your experience is that XBL is better i don’t see why you have to be convinced. However; If you’re that concerned about missing out on exclusive content that may be included with the PS3 version… Just get it for both the PS3 & 360. That way you get the exclusive content on the PS3 & the online MP support of XBL.
You dont have to pay so much for XBL
Once again, I pretty much agree with Dave. I just happen to prefer the PSN and I, personally, didn’t have the world’s best experience with Xbox.
Exactly… it pretty much boils down to personal experience & preference. If you’ve got both and you prefer one over the other that’s all you should really need to make the decision. Some are die hard fans of PSN some are die hard fans of XBL. Personally i am leaning more towards XBL, but that’s just based on my experience with both.
If you hate PSN or XBL nobody is going to convince you otherwise.
