I’m almost ready to begin construction on my ghost trap pedal, but the D-Sub Connector Hood is one of about 3 small parts I haven’t tracked down yet. Does anybody know what type of computers or equipment might have one of these things inside? I realize they’re in the Shop, but I’ve got several sources for free obsolete electronics and would like to get one that way. I just need to know what I’m looking for.
A Sub D is a kind of plug (serial I think). You can buy them at Radio Shack for a few dollars.
I can’t think of any computer component that would actually have one, unless it was really old or sort of hand made.
Yes. They would pretty much have to me some kind of custom or handmade cable.
The D-Sub Connector Hood is kind of what it says. It is a cover for the D-Sub, 9-Pin Serial Connection. The best place to find one is going to be among cables and other connections. (I happened to of found one in black in my pile of obsolete computer cables).

Do you need the grey plastic hood piece in the shop or the metal connctor itself? I have an extra hood I rdered by mistake, I will give it to you if you pay shipping. Let me know.

Just got my 20 pin cable and d sub in. For the record, incase you don’t know, the 20 pin end fits perfectly into the front of the d sub connector. It’s just the right height and width.
And for those who also don’t know, you can custom order a 20 pin ribbon from somewhere like digikey. Just don’t get the 36 inch one by accident.
