This is like a car wreck, I can’t stand the sight of his pack, Yet I cannot look away to see where he goes with it next.
LOL! Don’t look in the box, don’t look in the box! (from Seven).
I’m just happy my little old pack has generated this much interest (both positive and negative).
Well, while I think that Bo was way too harsh in his approach to critiquing your pack (that’s just Bo being his usual charming self, so try and shrug it off), I can see his points. It doesn’t really look like a Proton Pack. That said, however, artistic license is allowed in any fandom. Heck, you find artistic license in varying versions of actual movie and television props.
The important thing, as has been said by you yourself, Bradboss, is that it’s not important whether or not we like it, but whether it’s something you like. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea, and it’s not mine, but so long as you’re happy with it, that’s all that counts.
Chris
I am really not trying to be rude to the guy, But I just call em as I see em.
I was kind of joking, Bo. I know you didn’t mean any harm, but to some it would come off as being rude. Just adding a cushion, if you will. I think it was a tad harsh, but, as I said, your points were valid. It’s all in the eye of the beholder, though. You and I can look at it and see what looks like junk stuck to pair of straps, and Bradboss could look at it and see solid gold.
Like I said, if he likes it, that’s what counts.
Chris
That’s all that matters. Well said.

Ha! I think your the only one who understood me 100%, I mean ive seen amazing things on this board with the smallest budget, even cardboard. Any even the member who had 3 packs, and RGB, GB, and a future GB pack and the future one looked amazing, just as it would fit in our time or even the future.
Hi again! Well, I think it’s done. Here are new pics.

painted black (see, not as bad now, huh?)

here it is will all the lables to keep OSHA and the EPA happy (they never are…)

closeup of the systems moitor for the SuperCritical Watercooled Reactor

closeup of the 10 MW generator power distributor (shiny metal cylinder) and THz comm antenna is behind it

top of pack

right side showing the scoop for the nutrona wand

left side with the turnine, generator, and THz comm antenna
This guy is either a certified genius or an authentic wacko!!
Hahaha i vote for the 2cnd..
I would like to see him walk with that… thing… on an airport just to see what happens ![]()
Well, Sal, if you walk with any GB pack at an airport (or bus station) you’re asking for trouble. But, thanks for the indirect compliment. It’s almost worth going to jail, in that they would think it is a dnagerous device. There is a thin line between genius and whacko. : )
here it is with callout info:

You wanna explain to me why the hell you need an oscilloscope on a proton pack, Especially in a spot where you can’t see it? Even if it wasn’t absurd the inability to monitor the device kinda defeats the purpose, whatever that purpose may be.
sure, no problem. The EPA wants us to monitor air quality, so we put the ociliscope so that *other *people can see it. The info is also fed to the display on the nutrona wand. Turns out that the Fed’s cloud had a silver lining. We don’t get caught off guard from behind with the “sniffer”, which helps detect some entities that don’t show up on a PKE sweep. Handy for detecting CO, too.
I really think this thing would have looked a bit more like a pack if it wasn’t so much kit-bash built and a little more self constructed, if that makes sense. I see something favoring a pack there, it looks like it has been through a trash compactor though. Maybe try toning down all the little bits and pieces in the next incarnation, if there is one.
Why is it called “da Burgh Pack”?
I believe that’s a tribute to Pittsburgh.
I got that part, I was just making sure I was not missing some quality that makes it uniquely Pittsburgh.
Oscilloscopes don’t measure air quality, They’re used to measure sound.

well, they measure electrical flow. They are used for electronic troubleshooting, sound, and other scientific uses. The airflow monitor (far left) gathers air samples. It’s sent through the chromatograph, and a display is sent to the oscilloscope. Sorry if I confused anyone. : )
It’s because of our Pittsburgh based corporate sponsors, and we’re the Pittsburgh Ghostbusters. The pack is experimental, so it may not look as clean as traditional packs. We have had to take things off and move them as we tested various features. There’s always room for improvement. : ) Thanks for looking!
While this thing is still crazy looking and way to much for my liking it is looking much better painted black. ![]()
