Dimensions needed...

Hello,

I tried to discern the dimensions from the blueprints but couldn’t quite make them out. I need the dimensions (length) for the two tubes that go here:

Any help is appreciated.

anyone…anyone…bueller?

One is 4 7/8" long while the other one is 3 7/8" long according to Stefan’s plans. The should both sit even with each other when installed.

Enjoy!

Here they are;

Just take the total lenght, in Stephan’s plans they are measured from the motherboard, but it seems that you are going to attach them with bolts. In that case, you need to take the 1.5 inches of from the total lenght. The total lenght, according to Stephan is 136.5mm/5.357in from the motherboard, if attached through the cosmetic plating. If you attach them topically to the plating, just take out 38.1mm/1.5in. Hope this helps. Nice built, by the way.

Actually that is one of the errors on Stefan’s plans. They are both the same length meaning one sits higher than the other.

yeah, the beam line sits higher than the filler plug. nobody else metioned it, but the tubes are usually 1.5" PVC, just like you used for the injector tubes.

Thanks you guys!

Aw man, why didn’t anyone tell me!? Now I have to change them on my pack I guess . . .

Truth is because most people don’t care and when the few that do care point them out and bring it up they are usually met with “it’s close enough so why bother” type attitudes that derail any productive movement forward on making Stefan’s plans just that much more accurate…

Just reference this thread, where it fell apart because rather then a thread devoted to bettering the plans and creating a new De Facto set, it turned to a thread that simply wanted to plagiarize Stefan’s plans with a few tweaks and dumb them down to make them easier for the newbie…

I’m not against a new set of plans where everything is dumbed down and made easier, it would be a welcome addition to finding middle ground for newbies… But for those that want an De Facto set of plans it can’t be dumbed down it needs to be taken to the next level or it’s no better then what we already have, that being an awesome set of plans done by Stefan…

But, don’t worry there will be a new set of plans eventually, but it’s still in the gathering information stage…

Yeah, I remember that thread. Actually if I remember correctly, it was even heavily modded from where it stands now as a thread.

I was kind of being a smart ass when I said “why didn’t anyone tell me!?”. It takes threads like this to get that kind of info out in the open to be honest, most of the time.

i used film canisters on my pack for those tubes just an idea

Thanks Namebrand for pointing out that.. I now have three packs that need a little correction. I take it that the measurement on Stephan’s plans are for both and the other just sits one inch higher than pictured in the plans?

Oh, I too remember the thread about the inaccuracies on Stephan’s plans.. Kinda derailed from the original intention, if I recall.. Still, with inaccuracies, they still are just too awesome work..

This is an incredibly pervasive attitude in the Ghostbusters prop community, and probably the biggest problem with it. So many people are quick to dogpile on someone for daring to try to step up the accuracy level just because they themselves aren’t concerned with it.

“Prop ■■■■” gets thrown around a lot, despite the fact that if it weren’t for the “prop nazis,” we’d all still be using Tupperware containers and Hot Wheels tracks.
