Due to the lack of time to set up an instructional website, aside from the basic instructions uploaded, I thought I would start this thread to field questions. This way all of the questions and answers are in one place.
hey Exo
I got your sound kit today, and I’m trying to set it up.
I can’t get sound. I have a mono-cable picked up from Radio shack, snipped off the end and tried connecting it to my speaker (http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Pioneer-4-2-Way-Speakers-TS-G1042R/sem/rpsm/oid/201503/catOid/-13092/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do). my problem is that I can’t get any sound.
Can you walk me through this? can anyone??
My question concerns an alternative power supply such as an RC battery like was mentioned in a different thread. Would all 3 boards be wired parallel (connecting all positves & negatives) and then connected to the battery or would you recommend a different set up? Also, would there be a need for a seprate battery of the sound or will an RC battery provide enough juice for a night out with lights and moderate use of sound?
Thanks
I just popped the SD card in to see what files are on there…
the card is blank. now what?
You may want to check the SD card to make sure there are files loaded…
yeah, did that, no files, just an empty folder…
looks like I’m gonna have to format it, BUT, I won’t have ANY sounds on it now…
but here’s the thing, in his video, you get a double pop sound… I don’t even get that.
Until we hear from Flynn on this you may wan to try a different SD card and load a sound or two on it just to see what it does???
it’s more than just the SD card. when I power on, I don’t even get that double pop like in the video.
I’ve tried the speakers I linked to earlier and two sets of head phones.
may sound silly but have you checked the volume??
heh, yup
was turning it while firing and nothing but aggravating silence… I’m at wits end.
I’m having the same problem. I got the wire with the 1/8th inch plug and it was already cut on th other end with the two wires for the speaker. The speaker works as I plugged my ipod into it, but it seems like the board isn’t getting any power.
ok, glad/sad that I’m not the only one having this issue
and just made sure the speaker worked by plugging it into my computer… so… oye… at least my lights look good ![]()
Maybe everything has to be plugged in…ie…the gun board, and the pack board. Did Flynn ever say the sound board works on it’s own with no other pug ins?
Also if you do have everything plugged in check to make sure both power switches are turned on…
I’m sure you both have tried this but pull up Flynn’s video’s and make sure you are doing the same thing he is…
I’ve got his light board which this is controlled by and yes, it’s plugged in correctly.
my guess is taht the amp on the board isn’t getting power for some reason… I even stripped the battery terminals a bit more than they were so I’d be sure to have a solid connection.
I’ve got mine working now. I pulled all of the battery’s out then put them back in and it worked! I’m guessing one of the battery’s wasn’t touching the contact, hopefully that’s your problem too zeta.
gonna give it a shot now
I’ll let ya know how it goes
yeah, still nothing.
I have the worst luck, I swear
I can mount the circuit board with screws?
yeah, still nothing.
I have the worst luck, I swear
Try sticking the positive and negative leads from the battery holder together real quick and see if you get a tiny blue spark. If you don’t notice one try sticking the leads on your tongue and if you get a stinging feeling then it’s got to be the board.

Or you could always just try and measure the output with a voltmeter.
Make sure your getting what you think your supossed to be getting.
I received my sound kit in the mail as well but I won’t be able to give mine a test run until this evening.
