My card has sound files on it, so for those of you who are missing your sound files here they are. I posted them to a Rapid Share link. I put them into a folder just to organize them, but they were all loaded onto the card in the root directory wtih no folder structure. The download is large, because Exoray had looped the pack hum sound so that it would run for an hour. The pack on / hum found file is 128MB.. the others are very small. Hopefully this helps someone.
OK first to address the power issue, if you are not getting the red LED to light when you power up the board then it’s not getting power… Try playing around with the batteries as suggested, and double check how you installed them…
Every board was checked in detail before shipping so I know they power up unless it was damaged in shipping and that is unlikely… Look for that red LED to light if it’s not lit up then there is a 99% chance that the battery pack is not providing juice for one reason or another…
Sorry to hear people having this issue but no power seems like a small one, there is probably something very simple missing, a little thing like giving the battery pack a little squeeze to make sure all the contacts are working might be all it takes…
As for the no sounds on the card, I can’t really explain that one except that for some reason in the rush the card must have slipped through the holes some how…
I will post the sound files on my site later but I see they have been posted up already so use them… And as said the file is large as the hum sound is over an hour long…
Here is what you need to do to set the card up…
Pop the card in your computer and navigate to it with Windows Explorer it should be named ‘GB Sounds’ double and triple check you are on the right drive letter and right click and select ‘Format’ make sure to set the file system to FAT32 (default for SD cards is FAT, you need FAT32) Once the card is formated then simply drag the files one at a time onto the card waiting for each to finish copying before dragging the next…
But not everyone has a voltmeter… and I like getting shocked to tell the truth  .
Anyway I’ve begun installing my kit. I started with the wire going from the gun to the pack since I knew that would be the hardest part with the limited room I have in my gun. Got that done now, and I’m in the process of wiring a switch to the pack hum leads so I can turn it on or off with a switch on the pack. Can’t wait to get everything mounted and finished. Great work Flynn this really takes things to the next level, and was well worth the wait!
*** Note make sure this post is about 5 minutes old before trying to download as I’m uploading them right now using my phone (the hotel only allows one computer to have Internet unless we pay $10 more a day, so that means I’m stuck using my phone as a modem as the $10 a day isn’t necessary , and it’s taking a little longer then expected the signal is a little wea…)
The files is about 58 megs and is a compressed rar file, rar files are similar to zip files…
You will need to download Winrar from http://www.rarlabs.com it’s shareware that never expires it just nags you to purchase it when you first run…
Once you get Winrar installed open the rar’d sound file I have linked to (verify they are in the right order 1-5
(if not click the 'name tap above the names to organize them by name) and then select the “Extract to” icon at the top, it should open another window for you to navigate to your SD card simply extra them there, because of the way rar files are it should automatically extract them in the right order… No need to individually copy each file…
As stated more then once make sure to start out with a fresh formated card…
Again I’m sorry about this to anyone that was effected by no sounds, I’m sure the lack of sleep and rush to get them out was the major contributing factor…
the pack works GREAT… but, yeah, I definitely need to re-do the sounds. for some reason they aren’t playing as they should. when I turn off the pack, I hear the firing effect then the power down… and a couple other glitches. seriously, nothing major. I can definitely work with this
If this is happening it’s a result of the files going on the card in the wrong order, an easy enough fix… The rar fie that I’m still uploading should make this reload almost painless…
Well I can breathe a little sigh of relief now that some of the kinks are starting to get worked out…
On a side note, to enable hum there is a little jumper next to the SD card slot, place it over both pins and the hum effect will be enabled, remove it or place it on a single pin as they are shipped and the hum effect is off…
It sucks rushing a ton of orders out the door, not having time to write instructions, and then being stuck at a hotel…
I downloaded the sounds and although they are good I thought I would post these as well…not sure were I picked them up from…online somewhere…they seem to be a bit hirer bit rate…so they sound cleaner…
Won’t argue, but there really isn’t much out there to choose from in 12 volt “D” cell packs… In fact I believe that was the only one I found at my normal suppliers…
Most likely, I suspect people will simply use cheap car speakers as you can pick them up very reasonable at places like Wal Mart… They are about $10 in single blister packs in I believe 5" or 6" round and 6x9
To save space in the pack, would you say the 5", 6" and 6x9s all sound similar as far as quality goes? I got a 6x9 thinking the bigger the cone, the better the lows and mids would sound.
The bigger the speaker, the better it’ll sound. Just go to Best Buy and push some of the buttons on their display and see for yourself. A 4" sounds tinny and horrible compared to a 6".
I’ve been offered a 10" car speaker for my pack. I’m not sure if it’s a 2-way or not. But will the sound kit drive such a large speaker? I’m sure it’s 4ohm like all car speakers, but there must be some limit on how big a speaker this thing can drive well, otherwise they wouldn’t sell amps!
Good tip. I was experiencing the very same issue when I hooked everything up. I broke out the multimeter and had zero voltage coming out of the battery pack. A squeeze here and there did the trick. +12V!
I have to hand it to you Exoray for putting together a nice sound kit and in time for Halloween. It works great!!!
I only wish you included a* longer *6 pin phone conductor - I need to snake it from the wand, through the loom, and up inside the shell. What you provided just reaches where my loom meets the pack. I went to Radio Shack today and bought a longer a cable: 25-Ft. UL-Listed Line Cord (Silver) Model: 279-422 | Catalog #: 279-422.
I connected it, and to my dismay all the sounds and gun switches were all played off sequence, sometimes playing all the sounds at the same time. Closer inspection revealed that the pins of the line I recently bought were all mismatched at the ends - red to green, green to white, etc. unlike what you included where the colors match each tip. I’m hoping the one’s at Radio Shack are not all like that and that I just got a defective line. I’m going to return it for another cable or perhaps try another store.
In the event that fails, you wouldn’t happen to have a good source of the cords you used?
How long is your thrower hose? Maybe yours is just far loner than average? I bought my hose from gbfans and it was a little over 5ft, but a portion of that will be used for what goes into the gearbox, so the thrower hose will probably end up being 3.5 ft at most. I assume that’s pretty standard since that’s the length gbfans is selling. I haven’t checked any references to see if that’s right though.
