I found this over the weekend and took some more picture of it than I could find using the new search function so I thought I’d post them up. Kind of a obscure prop but a GB prop none the less.
I got one of these off eBay a couple months ago for $2. I was the only bidder. The shipping brougt it up to about $11 total. It included the carrying case and the instruction sheet.
I also bought a lens case from Wal-Mart for another $10 and modified it slightly to make a sturdier pouch for carrying it on my web belt.
when I looked there was one for 9.99 on the buy it now option- I should have bought now after reading that the bids on these are getting high. But to be honest I really can’t remember when it was used in the film. I think it was with Egon when he was talking with Dana at the university, testing emotional levels or something.
Egon uses it near the end of the movie, once they’re inside the museum fighting Vigo, and Ray can be seen with it in production stills of the ghost jogger scene.
As for the carrying case, in my opinion it won’t work with a belt. Too flimsy, no way to attach it.
So I bought a camera lens case from Wal-Mart for $10 and modified that. You can see it before and after conversion in this video:
I saw the new case in your video before, I watched it again and if I get the meter I think ill get that case too and make the same modifications that you did.
Thanks for the tips!

Has anybody wondered why they use it in the movie? I made up the idea that they use it to detect sounds emmited by paranormal substances. ( A ghost moans, it detects it, a living creature makes a noise, it shows nothing.) What do u guys think?

Probably they used it in the same way they used Radiacmeter IM179/U Military Gamma Dose Rate Meter in the first movie, to signify something big ( I.E. Stay Puft’s appearance) was about to happen, without having to use the PKE or gigameter. but who knows it may have been they just thought it looked neat. (“it’s technical, it’s one of our little toys”)
Here’s a photo of the screen-used Sound Level Meter pouch. The strap originally had a D-ring, which then connected to the GB1-style fob (far right). Ray seems to wear it in all of the NYC shots, and then Egon wears it for the rest of the LA shooting.
Snagged one for 6.00 and free shipping! the cover on the meter area is a little cracked. I think it makes look a little field used. Now only if I could get my hands on a sniffer!
I got my Radiacmeter for $17 a few years ago…now cant find them or if you can, its like $70…People dis Ebay for GB parts but I find some good deals. Just gotta know how to search
