Wow, thts some incredible GB art. If nothing the covers will be worht the buy.
Just because it crossed my mind, I’d thought that I’d share my realization that the issues do not seem to be focused on one buster per issue as the pictures would have you believe. Janine is going to have her own story, so there’s 5 stories and 4 comics? Just thought I’d warn everyone before the comics come out. We need a 5th comic I think.
Also my comic book store says the comic is tentatively scheduled for 9/30/09 release date, so its a little behind I gather.
That last picture made me do something I do not wish to share with the rest of you. I do not think I have ever seen such a beautiful piece of Ghostbusters themed artwork in all my life as an artist and a fan of Ghostbusters. And the slight blending of the movie and the cartoon with Egon’s PKE meter did make me grin hugely (it’s either the greatest flub up of all time, or the best wink and nod I’ve ever seen).
It truly inspires me…
Some pages from issue 2!

Yikes… he could’ve waited til the first issue was out before posting them.
Thanks for not posting them directly.
I peeked. I couldn’t help myself. These didn’t really wow me though. (However, there are some slight spoilers for those wishing to avoid same)
2)THE CAR!!! IT ACTUALLY LOOKS LIKE ECTO-1!!!
Could you post the Ecto-1 panel if it has no dialogue in it?
I’m likin’ this already, nice job on the art!
Neither of the panels has dialogue. As a matter of fact nothing we’ve seen has had dialogue as far as I know, maybe that’s the real twist to this comic, no words.
Two new pages are up. This time, from Egon.

Venkman has his eyes elsewhere, though.
Is that Jane Jetson in the first new pic?
Ok the last two panels of the last link made me laugh out loud! That is a very good sign.
I liked the “Oz” door too.

Scroll about a third of the way down for a sweet preview of the first issue! From the looks of it, I think we’re in for a great ride!
So tomorrow is D–livery day?!
Fingers crossed, here’s to hoping for the best. I’m pretty excited about this idea, and I look forward to seeing how it pans out.. And I also realized I’m wearing a Ghostbusters shirt today. Talk about overkill..
:sigh:
Just got an e-mail from my comic shop that my copies are in.
EDIT: AWESOME. Love my comic guys. They just e-mailed me again to ask if I want the Incentive Cover held as well. I didn’t even know there was an Incentive Cover for this issue, but I’m definitely picking it up!
Potential Spoilers
Got my copies today, I got both Covers A and B, and took some time to read it this afternoon. A MUCH better setup than The Other Side, I have a lot more faith in the way this one is going to go.
Pros:
The art is much improved from The Other Side.
The writing is much better. The ghosts that talk don’t sound anywhere near as cheesy as before, and just come off as creepy.
The little touches, like Venkman’s jerry-rigged containment unit, and him saying how he’s “no Spengler” went a ways to show how yeah, he’s a hero to these people, but he’s still flying by the seat of his pants.
Cons:
More direct rip-off lines from the movie, which is one of my biggest pet peeves. References are one thing, but directly ripping off lines is another. Also, it seemed like everyone except Venkman had the funny one-liners. Heck, even the ghost in the beginning had a pretty solid retort. Where is the smart ass Venkman we all know? It seems like a watered down version of him.
The backstory is almost an afterthought. Venkman explains the entire plot in ONE PANEL. Even a significant flashback would have helped a little bit. Maybe later on in the set we’ll see more.
In Betweens:
The new Ghostbustette. I am still undecided on her. It came off as a kind of easy way out plot device, and I can’t imagine her staying in cannon, but giving Venkman someone to play off helped, and made the last train fight a bit more believable.
Overall, I am very pleased with the issue. It’s a huge step up from The Other Side, which is all I really wanted. The art was a step up, the story is a step up, and the writing is a step up. There are, as always, some things that I think could use work, but I am about a million times more excited for this series than I ever was for The Other Side.
Well this sucks, won’t be able to pick it up till this weekend. I’m glad everyone likes it, though that makes waiting to pick it up all the more difficult.
