I’m curious. What do you folks out there that make gunboxs use to make the master? Sheet styrene? and how do you get the curves? I assume you must build up the area somehow and then sand it down to the curve you want. Any info would be great.
If you make it out of styrene, you can use a heat gun to get your bend. Just take a piece of tube with the outside diameter you need and carefully work the styrene around it using the heat gun. Don’t pull on the styrene as you do this it may start to stretch and tear. Also don’t use TOO much heat. as the styrene will warp and melt. There’s a happy median and may take some practice to get right. Try it on a scrap piece first. I recommend using a CAD or some other drawing program to draw a flattened stencil. Then trace it on the styrene.
