Halliwax's Uniform Build - Thanks PssdffJay!!!

I’m thinking the same thing. Maybe 1/4" down and the same closer to the zipper. I’d say you’re super close to it now, were really just splitting hairs, but I think a little down and a little closer to the zipper.

Did you sand down the zippers yet to reveal the brass? Don’t do it to hard, just enough to take the black off. The pulls may be silver, my “Propper” brand suit actually surprised me with brass pulls but my first nomex had silver pulls. Give those a sand too and it’ll help with the old and used look.

The no ghost location is good, but needs a bit of a rotation. Lets see if I can link the photo properly, nope. http://www.gbfans.com/equipment/reference/9/ Follow the link, you’ll see on the 5th photo (4 is the GB2 Museum scene, and 6 is after firing at the maid). Anyway, you’ll see the rotation on the no ghost in the 5th logo. Yours needs to go counter clockwise. Think of it like this, draw a cross in the logo, the head is in the NW quadrant and the centre line lines up with the right edge of the ghosts head. Does that make sense?

Made a mock up.

Thanks guys so much!! Tonight I’m going to follow both of your advice. I’m going to move the patch over and down 1/4"

I’ll take some photos and report back with pics, your advice is greatly appreciated

You know jay, times like this scare me. I’m usually good at catching things like that but I totally missed the no ghost “clocked”

Thank god I posted pictures and you guys picked up on that

So tonight I’ll clock the no ghost patch and take some more pics, you guys don’t understand how much I appreciate your help!!

Those pads look perfect… You make the right decision to cut. I just wish I had cut my with a curve like you did, instead of straight across. The leg hose and Belt Gizmo also tuned out very nicely. Keep it up, Halliwax!

ok guys, its me again the pain in the @$$. ok so here we go again, after jay showed me the “no ghost patch location for dummies” picture i took a few more pictures tonight, i actually did 3 photo shoots, and marked them in the pictures by holding my fingers up so as of right now my patch locations are set to 3, that way if u all say 3 is good i can start stitching tomorrow

im not trying to be funny, or trying to look like a punk while taking this photos. im actually trying to simulate the ref photos i decided to go after, that was my “murray” shot

it wasnt until after this picture i realized how fat i am. well once i pulled the side traps in, i realized how better it looked, and doesnt come off so “parachute” like. of course i didnt take any pictures with the straps pulled tighter…

ok i forgot to mention this above photos are pictures 1. in all 3 photo shoots, i already moved the name tag down 1/4" and over to the zipper exactly 1/4". so the nametag stays in the same location threw out the shoot, the noghost and leg hose will move though

noghost1 before jay showed me the tilt

noghost2, the ghost is way to drunk and falling over… gotta clock her back a few degrees

noghost 3, i dont know if i have it yet, or if i need to clock it back alittle bit more, i used these 2 photos as a reference

by my eyes this photo nails it, but i much prefer a professionals opinion. i want to be able to stitch this and go to a con with out someone saying " um dan, that logo is way off…"

so where do u think i am now guys? noghost and name tag look ok? please feel free to give me your honest opinion

now the leg hose, i used the photo below as reference. in back searches many guys said to look at this photo and line the connector up alittle past the zipper on the bottom pocket

the first photo shoot i think its exactly where it is in the picture, except it doesnt look right when i put the suit on. it seems to far on the side of my leg. heres some photos from shoot 1

seems too far to me, but i dont know

same location, except i used from double sided tape to hold it alittle better, along with a bobby pin

here i am trying to mimic the pose the manikin is in, lining my fingers up with the leg hose connector

alittle to the side

photo shoot 2. now i moved her in more, notice my zipper flat, i would just unzip my zipper and go in threw the crotch area and move the pin. easy access!!

another photo shoot 2 picture

closer look at 2, and where i lines up to the seems in the leg pocket

well there we have it, hopefully i didnt do too bad, i feel real confident on the name tag. the noghost logo seems to be hit or miss depending on the above photos. and the leg hose is now bugging me…

go ahead and tear it apart guys lol, no really i appreciate all your help! and look forward to your advice

( now being able to view the preview mode, before i post. i have the ref photos close to the last image of the noghost 3. i think the noghost can clock back even alittle more now…)

oh the pain! this is haunting! lol

that really makes me feel good, coming from someone like you.

at least i did something right!

For the no ghost, you need a mix of number 1 and 3. 2 is way to drunk, he needs to go home.

Looking at the patch, the bottom of the right hand looks like it should be on the same level hotizontal line and the top of the left hand. That’s close to Dan’s. Bill and Harold’s look closer to your number 3 shot. I personally would rotate number 3 a little bit clockwise.

Name patch looks good.

Leg hose connector was a tough one for me too. Lots of squinting at reference photos. Here is where I attached mine in relation to the leg pocket.

Your first shot looks way to far to the side. Number 2 is better. That’s a tough one to call. Let me look at your photos again.

Pretty sure this is what I used for leg hose connector placement (copied from within the sony lobby pack reference images http://www.gbfans.com/equipment/reference/33/320/)

Yup, number 2 looks good. 1 thing to consider is when your gizmo is more towards the front, I don’t like if my belt is loose and the bottom of the gizmo is hitting the connector or of the shaver cord is hitting it. A lot of the time I end up having the leg hose go through the shaver cord. Let me see if I have a photo.

Yes, you can see the hose and that my belt is too loose in that one. I tighten it extra tight when I have everything in my belt to stop it sagging and I actually safety pinned it so that it doesn’t come unhooked on its own. You’ll know what I mean when you try and put your belt on and it in hooks and is loose.

I have this photo blown up to 44x32 on my wall and I used this for reference for the leg hose.

This is a good one too on Harold’s suit.

I tried using these too, but the nomex suits don’t have the side entry zippers like the originals had and the tru specs had so I had to use the leg pocket as the reference point.

Thanks guys! Yay!! Name tag is done!! I’m gonna double

Check my leg hose tonight and make sure she didn’t move. I don’t recall it hitting my gizmo but I’ll double check.

I’m gonna have to sober up the no ghost as well, now studying all these ghosts I think if I turn it clockwise 1/4" we will hit the honey pot!

I’ll report back tonight with the updates, maybe tomorrow these will actually be stitched on!!!?

Thank you jay for the pics and advice, and thank you

May for the leg hose connector pic, I don’t recall seeing that one

ok, here we go 1 more time. this time i actually had to do 2 photo shoots… the first time while taking the suit off after having it the way i thought was perfect. i pricked myself while getting out, i pulled the suit and bent the damn pin and the logo flapped off..

so i pinned it back on and took some more pictures to make sure it was back to where i wanted it. i then took the suit off again, and realized i didnt have the SD card in the camera and dont have the cord or software to get the pics off the camera… so now i put the SD card in, threw the uniform back on and did a second shoot

quite honestly i stopped counting after 9 times of taking the suit off to re position the patch. so this patch has been a huge mental game to me, BUT i think i finally won, what do you all think?

that photo is where i think its damn perfect

now the big question, do i get a thumbs up?

Grab your thimble and get to work buddy!

YESSA!!!

well things have been extra busy in my life. i have 2 sick relatives which we are taking care of right now, and im working 7 days a week, so my only extra free time is friday LATE night. so what better to do? break out the needle and thread baby!

for some reason my digital camera is taking crappy pictures right now. think i need to clean the lens. here is my name tag stitched on, i copied Jays technique. i ran into a few hiccups while threading, but i just cut, tied a knot and started over. i got the needle real close and consistent to the edge. and the name tag went easier then i though!

the no ghost logo… thats another story. it was little different, i kept catching the inside of the arm with the needle, so i would cut, and un thread and start all over. it was real frustrating at times, the metal cap you wear on ur finger to push the needle threw the patch ( i dont know the name for it) when wearing it on, and having my needle pushing hand inside the arm and pushing the needle up threw the patch, the “finger cap” kept on getting in my way and wasnt working.. so i used my mink oil can!! i put it inside the arm sleeve, and would push the needle down on that! worked out real good, i also pulled the thread extremely close to the edge.

the luna patch came with a 1/8th tear in it. since im going for a old used/dirty uniform the patch fit great! you can actually see the little tear in the bottom of the logo. i love it

i love this next photo, you can see i have now washed my suit over 30 times, really breaking down the fibers. i also wore the suit and rolled around the cement pads we have around the pool. while pouring the cement my father and I brushed the cement with a broom to put grooves in it to prevent slipping. that texture sure comes in handy when weathering the suit!!

i also hit the should seems, knees, wrist sleeves with 320 grit sandpaper

i sure dont ever want to stitch the no ghost fingers ever again… that sure did hurt my fingers, tomorrow night i will be stitching the leg hose on, and washing her with the hose and letting her dry in the hot sun, suppose to be 80 tomorrow! and i worked in a hooded sweatshirt today! weird!

How are things coming along buddy? Haven’t heard from you in a while.
