Just wondering, but has anyone won any costume contests with these awesome proton packs on here? I’ve been buried in making my own pack that I wonder how its gonna look to outsiders

Well, I did win 5th place in a costume contest. I got beat out by a naked guy (he was kinda covered).
Not kidding. 
I had a good run when I first got my more accurate stuff made. Actually won judges and audience and craftsmanship awards at a few local cons a few years abck. Won at alot of bars as well. Since I’m part of a team now and have really great equipment we can’t seem to win anywhere. Since our focus is charity work we only let ourselves enter one a year and we loose to something really stupid like Borzou mentioned.
I remember 4 girls in the sexy gb costume asked us what we were last year and didn’t want to take a picture with us. Certainly a great memory.

In 2005 I won first place in a contest with my first junk pack. The prize was a CD from some artist I’d never heard of, so I took it back to Wal-Mart (the price tag was still attached) and swapped it out for cash. About $16, I think.
In 2006 I finished my “good” pack just in time to enter a contest sponsored by Greek Life at my college. I ran into a girl there who I’d never met but who was also dressed as a Ghostbuster. Rather than compete against her, we teamed up and won “Best Couple”. Prize: a 75-cent ribbon that said “Grand Prize Winner”.
The next day there was another on-campus contest, in which I won $25 in the “Most Creative” category. I won the same contest again in 2007 but wasn’t wearing my Ghostbusters getup.
I’ve been pretty lucky and haven’t had any of the rotten experiences some others have run into (/me sheds a tear for Ron) but when I entered the '06 contest sponsored by the fraternities, there was a guy backstage who said, “That’s a cool costume…but what are you?” He was in his early twenties and hadn’t the faintest idea what a Ghostbuster was. :sigh:
I won $300 dressed as a zombie in a bathrobe. My main competition was a guy dressed in a storebought “budweiser man” costume.
You’ll find that, after a while, the costume contest thing reeeeeeally loses its luster.
One too many instances of getting beaten by “two girls not in costumes but making out so they’re lesbians” can be mighty frustruating (if not the least unpleasant way of being beaten).
Now, I only do the contest thing if I just happen to be somewhere that’s having one, at the time they’re having it; I don’t put in much extra effort. Kinda let the contest come to me, I suppose.
I won a Ghostbusters Only Costume Contest.. won a copy of GB1 and 2 on DVD… WOOO.
Yeah.. we always lose to the ■■■■■ version of some costme that a girl with huge ■■■■■ is wearing.
I think there is one in town I’m pretty confident I can win. This place has different costume categories for sexy ones to avoid that happening. 
They’ll probably put you in the sexy category.

Lost a $4000 contest to John McCain in a cage carried by a gorilla wearing an american flag yesterday.
Won $125 at another one today!
I wish Halloween were every day. I’d be a wealthy man. 
Cisco, and a few of my friends won a $100 bar tab last night. We also had a friend dressed as Slimer (green sheet) and she definitely won sexiest but the MC gave it to two chicks that worked at the bar. Such is life. Anyway, it was a great night!
