Has anyone else run into issues with the Always On functionality of their HasLab Ecto-1? I have mine connected to a smart outlet, so that I can have it turn on/off with my room lights. At some point, I noticed that it wasn’t automatically turning on automatically anymore. More recently, I’m finding that even on USB power, it’s shutting the lights off after about 30 seconds, but sometimes fewer than that.
Do you have the USB going into a wall outlet dongle? If so, check the voltage output and make sure the Ecto-1 is getting the minimum voltage requirements. I had to learn this the hard way with a Star Wars collectible as it didn’t come with a dongle. The thing still worked, but never worked properly. Went back and forth with Disney to no avail. Decided to go back to basic troubleshooting, changed out the dongle and all of the features then worked as intended. The vehicle needed 9v whereas I was only feeding it 5.5v. Well, I hope this is the fix you need and not something else that’s harder to repair. Good luck.
Nevermind, I just re-read your post and saw that you’ve got it going into a smart outlet. Try troubleshooting it with a proper dongle and see if it still does the same thing. The smart outlet could be faulty?
So the smart outlet was my first suspicion, so I removed that from the mix, and still had the issue. Then I switched from the original 5v USB-A plug I was using, to a 20W USB-C plug from my iPad. Still the same issue. This is now happening with both of the Ectos I purchased… 1 set up as Ecto 1, and the other with Ecto 1A decor.
Is the 30 second issue still present if you run the lights and sounds off of batteries, rather than USB?
