How long are the handles supposed to be on the thrower?

I looked at Stefan’s plans. They look kind of small there. Does anyone have specific measurements for the front and rear handles (pipes)?

I searched first; didn’t see any post really asking this question outright. Anyone that can help will get a free crunch bar.

My rear handle measures 8-1/4" from the weld on top to the tip. The rotating portion of my front handle measures 6".

click equipment.

then equipment plans.

then sean bishop’s proton pack plans.

Totally overlooked that. Thanks!

IMO 7.25" is far too short for the rear handle. Like Vince says 8.25" looks alot more accurate.

I think I’ll go with 8-1/4". Thanks for the info guys.

Good call.

Nick and Vince are correct. Also, for accuracy, make you use 1.25" tubing and that your grip sits nearly flush with the end of the tube.

There seem to be a number of problems with Venkman71’s plans (though I do appreciate the effort he put into them).

Sean’s plans are for an idealized wand and were developed back in 2003. There has been a lot of information that has come out in the last 8 years. Hopefully new plans being worked on by several people we be done sooner then later.

I’ve gone with the 8-1/4 size but for some reason my grip appears to be way to far from the back of the gun box. How long are the grips supposed to be?

Gun grips should be about 5" long and sit about 0.5" back from the slo-blo box.

Nick brings a good point. If the slo-blo box isn’t installed, the grip really looks too far from the gun box. Just check out that pic from my build:

well, there’s one of my problems. My grips are a little over a quarter of an inch short. Glad you have parts, Nick. I might have to do some upgrading. :sigh:

Oh, it’s installed. I wonder if the dimensions on my slo-blo are off too. Anyone know how wide those are supposed to be?

1 inch by 1 inch, if I’m not mistaken.

Son of a bitch. There’s the extra space. Gun grips are too small and slo-blo is too small.

On second measurements…It’s not so bad. I think I’ve got it straightened out now.

Any chance of a photo?

No chance.

Actually, I’ll try to get one up when I get my camera back.
