For god sake stop moaning like little 10 year olds i’m in the UK and i could not even get my hands on any of the pre-order DLC GB II Flightsuit or a Gold Proton Pack as it was based in the U.S.I for one was so damn grateful that we even got a damn good GHOSTBUSTERS game to this day it’s still one of the games i play 5 days out of a week.it just seems to me that nothings good enough for people these days…where are your damn values.skankerzero man i bet you put up with a lot of Crybabies back in 2009 when this game came out.
And on another note i could not even get the game on XBOX 360 till November 2009 because of SONY so why you was all playing the game i had to wait 5 months till i could get my hands on it…you didn’t see me crying about that.
I have to say that this thread didn’t start out to be a bitch-fest, but just a fantasy of what we would like to see. I have no complaints about the game at all. And I offer my thanks to Skankerzero and all the rest that fought to produce an excellent ghostbusters game. Thank you!
Would a sequel have not been significantly cheaper to make? I feel like all the hard work was done on the first game, the same way toylines do the hard work on their first figures before being able to cut corners and reuse parts. The first one had to create with all the gameplay mechanics and such, but they nailed it so there’s nothing that really needs to be changed there. The main character models are done. Hell I’m sure some of the levels could be repurposed, and they could also finish off the parade level and repurpose it for a new game as well. They could even turn the firehouse into a level. Imagine getting overwhelmed with ghosts on the top floor and being able to slide down the pole to get away. I think that’d rock! A lot of the work would already be done.
Not entirely, seeing as how all technology pretty much gets upgraded every year, some of the technology that was used for the first game maybe obsolete. So they would probably have to rerender a lot of what they put into the first game to make it work for whatever programing system they have now.
yes, a sequel could have been made for a smaller budget, but that’s assuming all gameplay mechanics stayed the same. In order for a sequel to work you would have to find a way to ‘depower’ your main characters. You can’t really start them off with the upgraded proton pack and such because you don’t really have anywhere to go after that. So you would have to invent new weapons and stuff, thus introducing new gameplay.
Usually when making a sequel things get bigger and better. The only thing that could have been reused would have been the likenesses, but even then, I’m sure we would have reworked them to look better.
Most video game sequels ignore the power-ups obtained by the character in the previous game. Just look at Mega Man, Metroid, Batman: Arkham City . . . in fact, you’d be hard-pressed to find an a game that even bothered to explain why the main character lost all of his or her upgrades and/or power-ups since the last game.
yeah, that’s what I’m talking about. You would have to write up a good excuse for having the player start from scratch again. Especially in a license like Ghostbusters where continuity is key and it’s based on ‘science’.
That level got far enough to be tested. None of the art was finished for it, but it was being play tested.
It got taken out because we just didn’t have the time and it needed the most work. So we opted to polish what we had working instead of focusing on a level that wasn’t fun at the expense of the other levels.
I don’t remember much from this level other than you were in the sewers then came up into the middle of the parade. Then you got on a float and fought ghosts. Then fought Blinkers at the end.
You can see several floats made by the guys there.
You can also see Ray’s bookstore which you were able to go into. I didn’t see anything too special in the items that were in the store, so I just took a screen shot of the item list.
You can also see a couple of the balloons down at the bottom. One being my penguin.
I can’t find the level in the level list or i would take a screenshot from it. It was mostly unfinished because it was just difficult to make it fun.
Protip: Blinkers was supposed to be Ray’s favorite from his childhood. I was personally pushing for it to be Dopey Dog from TRGB.
“I can’t find the level in the level list or i would take a screenshot from it. It was mostly cut because it was just difficult to make it fun and was the most incomplete level we had when it came down to finishing the game.”
So cool, skankerzero!! Do you remember the reason for Ray’s Occult being in the parade level (i.e. a shortcut the guys take to catch up with the ghosts)?
I didn’t have any control over the multiplayer flight suits, so we don’t have the source files for those. The most we did was crank out a lot of heads.
I can’t quite remember why you went in there. I’m sure it was to get something relevant to the story.
