IGN posts their 5 recommended fixes for the game

I haven’t taken anything he wrote into account. There are only two of those 5 things he griped about that I would like to comment about.

It just doesn’t seem to me as though he knows what he’s talking about. Like he watched a cinematic… played for a few minutes and when he couldn’t figure out where to go he quit or some rubbish. I mean, anyone who has been following this game … even if you’ve only been following it recently… or even if you don’t know ANYTHING about the game and you’ve only seen the movies… you’ll know that the PKE meter and paragoggles are a ghostbuster’s main tools when trying to find ghosts or determine their next objective. Most of us here have seen the video game demo footage when the guys enter the New York Public Library and split up and the rookie has to go back downstairs. The player then opens the PKE meter & drops the paragoggles and we see the ectoplasmic vapor trail left behind by the ghost and it’s easy to determine where you need to go. No maps or waypoints necessary. Did Egon need a map when they originally found the librarian ghost? No, he used his PKE meter. That’s what it is for.

As far as the repetitive lines… Almost EVERY GAME I’ve played since they’ve evolved gaming technology to allow the inclusion of voice acting over video game characters has had repetitive vocal work at some point. It’s something that cannot be avoided. I am willing to put up with the guys repeating some lines… a lot of great games have suffered this problem and I haven’t let it ruin it before. We’ve waited YEARS for this game to be made and I’ll be damned if i’m going to let the experience be ruined by Ray shouting at me one too many times. I AM the rookie after all… They are paying me my salary to be their “bitch” in essence… They can repeat whatever they want to me and I’ll keep quiet and do as I’m told! :whatever:

The voicework will be no more repatative then any sports game with commentary. The problem story games have is that most of the dialogue is taken up in the narrative for the storyline. Then it’s a case of fitting in other vocal work for the general gameplay. As long as it’s not the same phrase repeated after it has just been said then who cares. And who really thinks it will be like that.

And the point about ‘investigating’ rather than just going to a waypoint is one I made too.

I can’t agree with IGN on some things lately because if anyone has checked TR track record their games are actually pretty good I mean check out it out for yourself. The lowest score TR got was a 6.5 every other game got a 7 or 8 the highest.

Also to comment on the beam situation when I seen the demo for the game like a million times I did notice that once the proton back was starting to heat up the beam was getting a little crazy and as for the person playing the game they seemed to have no problem.

To me IGN isn’t really the place to rely on reviews anymore and I agree with the person before they gave Resident Evil a great score but it’s the same damn game play as before nothing has ever changed. So as of right now from reading every other previewer that has played the game in its early build or the version now I think if anything this game will get a 8 highest 7.5 lowest but regardless it doesnt matter to me what these guys say what is going to matter is how much fun this thing is really going to be for all of us.

In defence of IGN when it comes to people thinking they are bashing the game (whoever they may be):

Of course this quote will probably just be ignored.

I’ll just add my opinion: IGN SUCKS!!!

GOOD! Remember the ballroom scene in GB1? The proton beams, just watching the movie, seem to be pretty hard to control. I’m glad to hear that it will take some getting used to. It’s not a damn gun shooting a bullet.

The aiming thing really leans towards not being a valid complaint at all considering you can apparently upgrade the pack to have better aim and less recoil.

Even more proof that IGN sucks

well, you took the words right out of my mouth pal.

IGN is good for cheats and walkthroughs for games. The articles, not so much because some IGN articles and reviewers can say a game that they say is bad is really a good game, and what they percieve as good can be the worst … your opinion above varrifies that part. its obvious this kid is like Keith champange, HAS no love for the series. i mean come on, “it sucks because theirs no co-op?” and the other quotes you posted shows that this kid and others like him wouldnt know a good game if it jumped from behind and slimmed them from head to toe.

NOW Praise be to the IGN members like Greg miller on IGN! :angryvigo: :angryvigo:

just one possitive thinker of many good to the game and ghostbusters amid half witted morons who like causing crap and making fun of good games because they have no imagination… the reason IGN’s reviews have stained credibility.

If IGN was smart, they would hold thier reveiwers tounges until AT LEAST two weeks after the game is released, not before.

to review something that hasnt even seen the shelves, or give the ability to write reviews about it when it hasnt even been played at all is just plain dumb.

it will, and thats the sad part bout it. articles like this should be added in their review. seems they already did the damage they wanted too, and hopes this little quibble will help fix it.

idk, if you were on the fence bout the game this could change your mind to a no purchase. especially if this is all youre going by. i still think this could have just been part of their review section, and not a whole story by itself.

Of course it’s going to be ignored… Saying you’re “in love” with something does not void the fact that you are being overly critical about things in the game that are not really all that important in the overall scheme of things.

Imagine saying something to your wife/girlfriend/significant other… “Your hair is a mess, you’ve gained some weight, your breath is horrible, I dislike the way you walk, and don’t like your family… But I’m IN LOVE WITH YOU!!!”

One sentence in an article of complete and total rubbish is hardly enough for me to hold by my frustration with their superfluous & somewhat superficial criticisms.

You’re saying that’s a bad thing? You just described my relationship.

Anybody read the comments this article is getting? It just grinds my gears when people post there flaming opinions to incite others. I know there are people out there that have no idea who the Ghostbusters are but come on give the game a chance. I showed my kids The Real Ghostbusters cartoons and they loved them! My 6 year old daughter and 2 year old son are gonna love this game! I hope the multiplayer has couch co-op so I can play it with my daughter. It’s kind of frustrating that this article is inspiring people to make the game out as a failure when it’s still early and things can be fixed if the developers want to fix stuff. The game is good as far as I am concerned.

Yeah, some of those commenters are down-right pathetic. I hate trolls who talk crap about things that they know nothing about. If they’re so down on the game why bother wasting their time bitching about it? Just shut the hell up & when the game comes out just… DON’T BUY IT. Gotta love the internet for giving anonymous assholes the power to be assholes without having to be concerned of the repercussions of being an asshole towards the wrong person.

In regards to the article: Did anyone notice that they do not even have recent screenshots posted? A good portion of those screenshots have been around for quite some time now… I would say they go back as far as fall of last year when the game was originally supposed to be released.

:vinzclortho:

buggy driver: “What an asshole!”

Now i have two reasons to want this game to succede (besides the fact is ghostbusters).

A;) Activision seeing the big mistake that they made letting the game go.

B) those losers will be drowned out by honest reviewers when the game turns out to be the best.

it will be just like Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts (my favorite RPG cross-over of all time), because they were both projects that people had low faith in them, and you know what… they became on of the greatest RPG game series around up with the other greatest game series.

Seriously, these guys, these (Walter Peck and Jack Hardmyer clones) dont know what theyre missing. thier loss… more for us. Thats what they game is for New and Old Fans of ghostbusters. :sigh: :eyeroll: :angryvigo: :vinzclortho:

God damn, it was just a little constructive criticism detailing some small little fixes that would help an “otherwise engrossing game”. You act like they completely bashed the game into oblivion.

I’d say the only bad thing about the article is that it’s a little too late to be offering suggestions.

Edit: Okay, so the criticisms weren’t all that constructive, I just think some are being a little too harsh on the article.

OK just another point about IGN’s rating system. They gave Chrono Trigger DS an 8.8/10. Chrono Trigger is praised for being the greatest RPG of all time and some argue the best game EVER (I’d have to agree with that myself). Hell, I’m not that into RPG games and I absolutely LOVE this game.) . But yet they gave GTA 4 a 10/10.

ive seen the artilcle. that is NOT constructive citiscism. Its people writting lies about te game, when it isnt even out. you know it, iknow it… we all know it. its dumb people being dumb and we being fans who have waited so long for a revival are expted not to defend ghostbusters? sorry, but we all agree with Kalonthar and ohers against these jerks.
