I quite dislike IGN’s rating system, because a game’s final score is not an average. So a game’s review might average out to an 8.5 and they’ll give it, say, an 8.2.
Seems to me like people are getting worked up because the IGN user comments and taking it out on the IGN article.
To each his own on Favorite RPG’s (ive already posted my favorite already : K.H 1 and 2) but Chrono Trigger? thats sounds interesting, i’ll have to try it sometime… thanks pal.
Yeah, you REALLY need to play Chrono Trigger. It’s truly a great game and stands the test of time, no doubt. I guess it’s just my fascination with time travel that really pulls me into the game.
For me I’ve not paid attention to IGN’s reviews since they gave GTA IV a 10. Is it a great game? Absolutely. It it a 10? Not a chance. I try to use metacritic and read what they have to say on the low end and the high end.
No I knew it, I was just joking around hence the (which should have been capitalized to get the :P) After all those comments on the IGN site, I had to throw in a little joke somewhere to brighten my mood up after reading them.
You know, this article makes me want to see the reviews even more, because as said earlier, it’d be great to have nice reviews to kinda stick it to the people that thought this game was going to be a complete failure.

Cant say i blame you. i love time travel too, my favorite time travel movies are Back to the future 1,2 and 3.
took the words right out of my mouth pal. however there are some people there defending the game. but the ammount of jerks out there that see the internet as “JERK CENTRAL: no rules” overwealm them because there are no true reviews for the game yet.
i’ll say this, they’ll lose their credibility when the game get positive reviews that cancel these bozos out. there will be so many fans enjoying this (hopefully some are game reviewers) i’m sure that will happen.
You’re absolutely right! it’s already happening… I have yet to see a negative comment in regards to the new cinematic on gametrailers. I believe that really says something considering the gametrailers userbase is not JUST GB fans. I think this game is really going to do better than anyone anticipates. I can’t wait until this game comes out… I’m sure it’s going to be EPIC!!
yup. been reading the comments at gt as well. they all seem positive. even at gamespot. their forums are getting more pumped for it. i hope the trend continues.
there’s a real positive response on the escapist.com as well, not one single insult or anything negative, even though there’s only about thirty responses so far on the site and most said they were buying or interested in buying.
on a side note my friend Tim thought the game wasnt gonna be interesting, but he saw the intro on game trailers thursday and now hes planning to buy the ds and 360 versions
It’s funny you mention your friend because I also have a friend who wasn’t interested in the game at all until seeing this intro cinematic. He actually started getting annoyed with me talking about the game so much. The day the cinematic was released i sent it to him and he had a change of heart. I really think this game is going to bring in a lot of new GB fans, and I definitely think it’s shaping up to be GOTY for 09!
Ixnay on the GOTYay. I mean we’re all excited that this game has the potential to turn a lot of heads and raise some eybrows but let’s face it, whether it deserves the title or not GOTY will always elude this game because it’s a movie-based game. It will always be GOTY to us though and that’s good enough isn’t it?
All this positive feedback on the opening cinematic makes me all the more happy I didn’t watch it!
I actually saw 2 negative comments on Kotaku. One from a GB fan that thought it was disappointing (which isn’t necessarily too negative) and another one which just said “it looks bad” which doesn’t really go into detail at all so I don’t really take it seriously. Regardless, 2 non-positive comments out of the many all over different sites on the internet, that’s pretty darn good.
