Everyone’s favourite law, the Online Safety Act has resulted in the image hosting site, Imgur blocking access to the Uk.
Gbfans utilises this service to upload images for use here in the forum which mean none of them are visible for us anymore.
A friend mentioned to me that all my photos were down, I went back and checked and I can see them. This explains what happened. I’d be willing to replace all my photos if there is a different hosting sight.
Yeah we can only see them if we use something like TOR browser or VPN’s .
Fortunately they have not specifically criminalised TOR or VPNs and are unlikely to smash your door in for using those …well for now at least lol
Found that Opera has a built-in, free VPN, so I’m using that on my phone for the forums now.
Just looked at the AI overviewe of the online safety act. Sounds good on paper, but where’s the fine print? Unless people are allowed to post NSFW images on that platform I don’t see the point of blocking the platform. I use it just to host my avatar but this law seems to be an excuse to abuse power.
It’s absolutely an excuse to abuse power. It’s also an easy to bypass law via VPNs so all it does it harm day-to-day users of the internet.
