Has anyone ever tried to make the mother board out of a type of wood? The main reason im asking this is that id like to have an aluminium one but lack to necessary tools to fabricate and i dont see the point in purchasing one, id rather make my own. (im stubborn like that).
I have made two differnet packs of wood and both of them work fine. Just make sure you get a good grain and sturdy one. Tomorrow I am going to do some propping and i will let you know the size and the type. I also am making another pack with a metal motherboard.
to answer your question, a wood mother board would work
I used 1/4" plywood. Works fine. 
I did use some wood putty to fill in the edges, but that was no big deal.
Thanks guys, i will definately use wood then, i was also considering using 1/8 in hard board for the other parts (spacer, power cell…) anyone tried this or is a thin plywood better.
i used 1/4 too.my whole pack is 1/4 plywood(except for acessories,cyclotron,pvc etc)..it has worked really well.very easy to manipulate.
